Over 10 Indian players were in action in the event but most of them have failed to qualify to the quarter final stage. Sathiayan Gnanasekaran lost to Kristian Karlsson of Sweden 11-5, 8-11, 7-11, 4-11 in the men’s singles round of 16. Manika Batra last to Ying Han of Germany 5-11, 2-11, 4-11 in the women’s singles round of 16.
The only ray of hope is the women double pair of Manika Batra and Archana Kamath seeded 2nd in the tournament. The duo defeated SOO Wai Yam Minnie and LEE Ho Ching of Hong Kong 13-11, 8-11, 11-5, 13-11 to clinch the place in the semi final. They will be up against the Chinese Tiepei pair of LI Yu-Jhun and Cheng I-Ching in the semi final which is scheduled to take place today. A lot of expectations will be on them to win this match and subsequently the title

The unseeded pair of Rohan Bopanna of India and his partner Denis Shapovalov of Canada had reached the quarter final of the Miami Open by defeating top seed Croatian pair of Nicola Mectic and Mate Pavic 6-3, 7-6. However the duo lost their quarter final match 2-6, 1-6 to the 6th seed N Skupski and W Koolhof.
While in the women doubles Sania Mirza and Kirstin Flipkens went down to Yang and Alexandrova. They lost the match in straight sets. Scoreline read 3-6,6-7 in the Quarterfinals
