The 2024 Rowing Asian and Oceanian Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta is scheduled from 19-21 April in Chungju,Korea.

Five Indian rowers will be in action across three disciplines in a bid to secure Olympic and Paralympic Quotas for the country.

India had qualified a total of two rowers for the Tokyo Olympics. The pair of Arjun Lal/Arvind Singh participated in the Men’s Lightweight Double sculls event and finished 11th.

The number is expected to increase slightly this time with three indian rowers in the fray for Olympic Qualification.

INDIAN PROSPECTS:

Men’s Single Sculls: The event has five quotas on offer.
Balraj Panwar will be competing against 17 other participants and will surely be among the top quota contenders. Balraj had finished a solid 4th at the Asian Games last year which exudes confidence on his capabilities of securing a Quota from this event. Also this combined with the fact that two of the athletes form China and Japan who finished ahead of him at the Asian Games will not be at the event tomorrow increases his chances even more.

Light Weight Men’s Double sculls: This Event has two Olympic Quotas on Offer. Tokyo Olympian pair of Arjun/Arvind will look to qualify this time around too and will be competing against 12 other pairs.
Like Balraj, their prospects of Qualification looks bright too. They were the silver medallists at the Asian Games last year, and with gold medalists China absent at the event, their chances of qualification looks good to say the least.

PR3 Mixed Double Sculls:  The event has one Paralympic quota on offer and with only three countries in the entry list including India, the chances of taking it from here looks decent. The pair of Anita/Naravana Konganapalle will represent India in this category and will look to secure the first Para Rowing quota for India for the Paris Paralympic Games.
