The Archery world cup action is here!
As we know, world cups take place in 4 stages,as far as Archery is concerned. The 1st stage of the 2024 Archery World Cup begins on 23rd of April and will continue till 28th of April.

All the big countries in Archery like South Korea, USA, Japan but surprisingly no China teams have entered.

The city of Shanghai in China will host this Event. It will feature both recurve as well as compound Archery action. Ranking points will be there to grab for all the archers.

What to expect from an Indian perspective ?

Well, India has released the all four squads for recurve and compound across both the genders. The trials were conducted in Kolkata in Jan and a total of 16 archers were selected based on the trials. Deepika Kumari, the face of Indian Archery for years has now made a solid comeback into the National squad. She has been shooting good this year since the time she came back from her maternity break.

The Women’s Recurve Team includes Deepika Kumari, Bhajan Kaur,Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari.

Speaking about the Men’s side, it includes Dhiraj Bommadevara, the only Paris 2024 quota for India so far, the Veteran archer Tarundeep Rai, Tokyo Olympian Pravin Jadhav and Mrinal Chauhan. Yes, as you’ve noticed, Atanu Das misses out.

Also remember that, this is the squad for the first 2 stages of the World Cup. Based on those performances, the team for the 3rd stage of World Cup will be finalised. The 3rd stage of World Cup will be the final qualification event for recurve archers ahead of the Olympics!

The compound squad is pretty much on expected lines. Senior archers like Jyoti Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma booked their places with ease. They will have an able support from the young sensation Aditi Swami

Having said that, Prathamesh Jawkar, the Asiads Gold Medalist youngster couldn’t make it for the Worlds.

Indian Squad for Compound Archery :
