China secured a significant 5-0 win over India in the final group stage game of the UberCup 2024

Team India has successfully entered into the quarterfinals of the UberCup 2024 tournament. However, this huge defeat from china has left team india blank.

In all 5 matches of the tie, China displayed superior performance over India. Team India could not secure a single game win against the highly ranked Chinese players, all of whom are placed in the Top 8 of the World Rankings.

This defeat marks a challenging setback for India’s youthful team, following their previous victories against Canada and Singapore in the group stage.

Match 1:

It was between Chen Yu Fei, Olympic Champion and World No. 2, and Isharani Baruah (WR 83). Yu Fei won easily in straight sets 21-12, 21-10. China took a 1-0 lead in the 5-match tie.

“A little disappointed in my game because I made too many errors. I thought I would play well against her, but it was an easy win for her…the pace was really high, I had to increase my speed,” Isharani said after her match.

Match 2:

The Doubles Match was between India’s National Champions duo Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra, ranked 67, who were no match for China’s reigning World Champions Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan. Qing & Yu fan won in straight sets 21-13, 21-12. They extended China’s lead to 2-0.

Match 3:

It was between China’s Han Yue and India’s Anmol Kharab. Anmol lost the first game quickly by 9-21. In the second game, she was trailing 1-4 when she rolled her right ankle while defending a point. She received medical attention, but continued playing despite her swollen ankle.In the 2nd game, she was trailing by 1-4 and rolled her right ankle while defending a point. She received medical attention after that but kept playing. Her ankle got swollen and forced her to retire from the match. She left the court with tears in her eyes, and China took a 3-0 lead.

Match 4:

It was a doubles match between Liu Shen Shu, Tan Ning & Simran Singh, Ritika Thaker. Simran and Ritika were quickly defeated by Shen Shu & Ning in straight sets 21-9, 21-10. China moved forward with a 4-0 lead.

Match 5:

It was between Wang Zhi Yi & Tanvi Sharma. Tanvi lost to Zhi Yi easily in the first set. Although she fought a little better in the second set, she unfortunately lost in straight sets 7-21, 16-21. China completed a clean sweep victory over India with a 5-0 win.

India finished 2nd in the group stage, while China claimed the top spot. India has advanced to the quarterfinals of Uber Cup 2024, where they will compete against Japan on May 2nd.
