The Tennis Premier League (TPL), powered by Clear Premium Water, is all set to return with its seventh consecutive season from December 9 to 14 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With seven editions completed, TPL now stands as only the fourth sports league in India to achieve this milestone, underlining its growing stature in the country’s sporting landscape. Season 7 also marks a significant new chapter in the league’s journey, as TPL moves outside Maharashtra for the first time. By choosing Ahmedabad as the host city, the league aims to expand its footprint and tap into newer tennis audiences, reflecting its vision of growing the sport beyond traditional strongholds. The move has already generated excitement in Gujarat, a region with a steadily growing appetite for professional tennis.

On court, Season 7 promises a high-octane week of action. The league will feature top-50 ranked international players alongside India’s finest talents, spread across eight franchises. TPL’s distinctive, fast-paced format remains at the heart of its appeal. Each tie consists of four matches Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles each worth 25 points, making every contest a 100-point battle where momentum can swing at any moment.
During the league phase from December 9 to 13, every team will play five matches, with the top four sides advancing to the semi-finals and final on December 14. The condensed format ensures constant action and keeps fans engaged from the very first point to the last.
The player roster for Season 7 adds further intrigue. Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna returns as one of the league’s marquee names, joined by World No.26 Luciano Darderi of Italy and Britain’s top-ranked professional Dan Evans. India’s leading women players, including Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Sahaja Yamalapalli, also feature prominently, ensuring strong domestic representation across teams.

Speaking about the unique nature of TPL, Bopanna highlighted why the league format resonates with both players and fans. “Twenty-five game points make the matches fast and exciting, and now that I have retired, this format is perfect for me,” he said. “It is fun, high-energy, and for youngsters, it is a fantastic format to watch and play. Every point matters, and you have to start strong from the first rally. Being televised means fans get to enjoy every player, not just the top stars, and that’s what makes TPL special.”
Making his TPL debut, Luciano Darderi expressed eagerness to experience the league’s atmosphere while representing the Rajasthan Rangers. “I am excited to be part of the Tennis Premier League for the first time,” he said. “I have heard a lot about the energy of the league and the passion Indian fans bring to every match. This format will be a new experience, and I am looking forward to contributing to the team and enjoying playing in Ahmedabad.”
Britain’s Dan Evans, who will turn out for the Gurgaon Grand Slammers, also shared his excitement about competing in India. “It is great to be here in India for the first time,” Evans said. “I know how passionate the fans are, and the TPL format is fast and competitive. I am really looking forward to being part of this team environment and contributing to a strong campaign.”
As teams finalise combinations and sharpen strategies ahead of the opening day, Season 7 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive editions yet. With a blend of international star power, Indian depth and a proven fan-friendly format, the Tennis Premier League continues to strengthen its position as Asia’s premier tennis league.
The Tennis Premier League Season 7 will be broadcast live from December 9 to 14 on Sony Sports Network and JioHotstar, making it the only tennis league in India available on both television and streaming platforms.
