The Tata WPL 2026 is set to return for its 2026 season with a packed, month-long schedule beginning January 9 and running through the final on February 5.

The league, now firmly established as one of the most influential platforms in women’s cricket, will once again bring together India’s biggest stars and global elite talent across five teams Mumbai Indians, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Giants.

This year’s schedule brings a mix of high-voltage clashes and strategic venue rotations, with the league phase divided across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, while the playoffs will also be hosted in Vadodara. Across 22 matches, fans can expect a steady flow of evening games, creating a primetime window for maximum viewership.

Opening Week: Blockbuster Start in Navi Mumbai

The season begins on January 9 with Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a rivalry that has quickly become a fan favourite. Mumbai then plays again on January 10, kicking off a busy first weekend that features double matchdays and back-to-back fixtures.

Navi Mumbai hosts the entire first leg, covering the first nine matches. This includes early heavyweight clashes such as:

  • MI vs Delhi Capitals (Jan 10)
  • RCB vs UP Warriorz (Jan 12)
  • UP Warriorz vs Delhi Capitals (Jan 14)
  • MI vs UP Warriorz (Jan 15)

The scheduling ensures every team gets an early taste of competition, with fixtures designed to prevent long gaps and keep the intensity high for both players and fans.

Shift to Vadodara: A New Venue Gets Its Spotlight

From January 19, the action moves to Vadodara, marking an exciting extension of the league’s geographical footprint. Vadodara hosts 11 matches, including some crucial mid-season showdowns.

Key fixtures in this leg include:

  • Gujarat Giants vs RCB (Jan 19)
  • Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians (Jan 20)
  • Gujarat Giants vs UP Warriorz (Jan 22)
  • RCB vs Delhi Capitals (Jan 26)

This leg is expected to be pivotal in shaping the final standings, given the condensed schedule and the tactical diversity teams must adapt to across two distinct venues.

Season Run-in: Playoff Race Heats Up

As the league approaches the final week, the intensity rises with tight turnarounds and must-win games. Matches on January 29, 30, 31, and February 1 will determine the fate of several teams fighting for playoff positions.

The final league match is scheduled for February 2, allowing teams a short breather before the playoffs.

Notably, the schedule includes a few days with no fixtures to allow travel, recovery, and training a welcomed change that supports player wellbeing during what will be a demanding month.

Playoffs: All Eyes on Vadodara

The playoffs follow the familiar WPL format:

  • Eliminator – February 3
  • Final – February 5

Both matches take place in Vadodara, ensuring consistency and logistical ease for teams and broadcasters. The Eliminator will feature the 2nd vs 3rd-placed teams, while the table-topper will advance straight into the final a format that rewards excellence over the long league phase.

The WPL’s 2026 schedule reflects the league’s ambition: high-quality cricket, competitive parity, better venue planning, and a viewer-friendly format that keeps fans engaged through January and early February.
