Sindhu & Srikanth March into SemiFinals at Korea Open

Top Ranked PV Sindhu & former World Number 1 Srikanth Kidambi scored victory in contrasting fashion to make it to the Semi Finals at BWF Super 500 Korea Open. It was a heartbreaking loss for the highest ranked Indian Pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. It was curtains for the Top seed pair of Ashwini Ponappa & Sikki Reddy who started their campaign in the quaterfinal. They were just two wins away from winning the BWF500 trophy. They lost out on a golden opportunity.

Third seed of the tournament PV Sindhu took only 44 minutes to beat her opponent from Thailand Busanan Ongbamrungphan. She enjoys a healthy H2H of 17-1 against her opponent from Thailand. Busanan who was Seventh seed of the tournament had practically no answers to the onslaught from PVS. She comfortably won the first game 21-10 and came back in the second game to close it 21-16 to close the match in straight games.

She faces second seed local player An SeYoung in the semifinals which is expected to be a cracker of the match. Sindhu is yet to score a victory over the young korean who has been in sensational form.

It will intresting to see the tactics Sindhu will be using to get better of the opponent in the SemiFinals. Infact Sindhu is yet to win a game against SeYoung.

In a battle between two Former World Number one players it was Kidambi Srikanth who came in on top. Srikanth had two flawless games clubbed in between with a pretty average one. Srikanth who is the fifth seed in the tournament won the first game 21-12 but Son came back strongly in the second one. Son won the second game 21-18 to take the match into the final game. Srikanth started the third game in commanding fashion and took early lead and ensure that there are no surprises to close the match 21-12,18-21,21-12.

Srikanth faces Indonesian Jonatan Christie in a bid to make it to finals. They currently have a H2H of 4-4. The last three matches going the full distance. In a match between the third and fifth seed it has all what is required to be an exciting match.

In the two doubles matches india suffered defeat while the top seeded due of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy lost in straight games it was a difficult loss for the star duo of Satwik and Chirag who lost failing to convert match point opportunities.
