GNDU enjoyed a memorable outing in the individual road race events, clinching two gold medals through commanding rides from Meenakshi Rohilla and Akshar Tyagi.
Women’s Individual Road Race
Meenakshi Rohilla (GNDU) produced a calculated, powerful performance to take gold in the women’s race. Displaying strong pacing and intelligent positioning throughout, Rohilla pulled away in the decisive stretch, securing her victory with confidence.
The silver medal went to Muskan Gupta of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, who stayed with the leaders for most of the race before Rohilla’s final surge proved too strong. Hemlata Dhakad (Bagalkot University) completed the podium, earning bronze after a gritty effort in the closing kilometres.
Men’s Individual Road Race
The men’s race saw Akshar Tyagi (GNDU) deliver a commanding ride of his own, showcasing power and race awareness in equal measure. Tyagi controlled the tempo in the lead group before making a decisive move to break clear, ensuring GNDU’s second gold of the day. The University of Kerala’s Adwaith Sankar SS clinched silver with a consistent and technically sound effort, holding off a late challenge from Chirag Sehgal (LPU), who claimed bronze after a strong finishing sprint.
The double-podium finish in both races highlighted GNDU’s growing depth in university cycling and further strengthened their position as one of the leading institutions in endurance sports.
Fencing: Quality and Consistency Across Foil, Epee, and Sabre
The fencing arena witnessed a mix of tactical mastery, explosive footwork, and mental resilience, with medals distributed across several universities in the foil, sabre, and epee categories.
Women’s Foil: Manipur University Leads with Style
Waikhom Sonia Devi (University of Manipur) stood out in the women’s foil event, securing the gold medal with a clinical, composed performance. Her precision and timing allowed her to neutralise opponents throughout the knockout stages.

Naorem Mina Devi (Guru Kashi University) earned silver after a strong run to the final, displaying exceptional defensive technique before falling short against Sonia Devi’s attacking control. The bronze medals were shared by Anikta Salokhe (GNDU) and N V Jenisha N (GNDU), both of whom fenced with consistency and assurance to reach the semifinals, adding valuable points to GNDU’s overall tally for the day.
Men’s Epee: RTU MP and GNDU Battle for the Top Spot
In the men’s epee, Shrivas Mohit (RTU MP) captured gold with a blend of patience, reach control, and late-bout composure. His ability to dictate engagements and maintain discipline in tight scoring sequences proved decisive. GNDU’s Sohil Sufyan Waheed delivered a strong challenge throughout the event, ultimately earning silver after a competitive final that showcased both athletes’ technical maturity.
Bronze went to Shivaansh Kapoor (University of Jammu) and Paramjeet (GNDU), who each produced determined semifinal performances to finish on the podium.
Men’s Sabre: University of Jammu Seizes Gold
The men’s sabre category was dominated by Harshit Kohli (University of Jammu), whose aggressive style and quick offensive bursts carried him to the gold medal. Kohli’s sharp footwork and ability to control distance distinguished him from the field. Silver was claimed by Abhay Shinde (Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University), who fought through a challenging draw to reach the final. His university added further depth to the podium as Nikhil Wagh earned bronze alongside Aditya Angal (Bharati Vidyapeeth) after a strong run from both fencers.
From GNDU’s dual triumph in cycling to standout performances in fencing across multiple universities, the day highlighted the expanding talent pool in Indian university sport. With athletes showing growing tactical intelligence, fitness, and competitive maturity, the pathway toward national and international representation continues to strengthen.
