The Tennis Premier League (TPL) is gearing up for a landmark Season 7, set to unfold from December 9 to 14, 2025, at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As India’s only professional tennis league featuring a mix of top Indian and global players, Season 7 promises a week of thrilling competition, marquee matchups, and electrifying atmosphere both on and off the court. Leading the star-studded field this year are India’s two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna, World No. 29 Luciano Darderi (Italy), World No. 38 Corentin Moutet (France), and World No. 39 Alexandre Muller (France). Together, they headline what is expected to be the most competitive and internationally diverse TPL season yet.

As the Season 7 auction approaches on October 9 in Mumbai, all eight franchises are preparing to finalize their squads around these marquee signings. The high-stakes auction will set the tone for a week of top-tier tennis action and entertainment in December.

Bopanna Returns, Leading India’s Charge

India’s tennis icon Rohan Bopanna who made his TPL debut last year will once again represent SG Pipers Bengaluru. The 45-year-old, who continues to defy age barriers, is the oldest player in history to win both a Grand Slam and an ATP Masters 1000 title. His participation brings not just prestige but also experience, reflecting TPL’s vision of creating a bridge between India’s elite players and world-class international talent.

Bopanna’s presence will once again serve as a major draw for fans, particularly as Indian tennis looks to inspire a new generation through exposure to top-tier global competition.

Adding to the league’s international appeal, Luciano Darderi, currently ranked World No. 29, will lead Rajasthan Rangers. The Italian star has been one of the standout performers on the ATP Tour this season, known for his powerful baseline game and consistency across surfaces. Corentin Moutet (World No. 38), France’s unpredictable left-hander with a flair for shot-making, will bring his trademark energy to the Gurgaon Grand Slammers. Meanwhile, fellow Frenchman Alexandre Muller (World No. 39) joins Gujarat Panthers, adding depth and experience to their roster.

The international presence continues with Arthur Rinderknech (World No. 54) representing Hyderabad Strikers, Damir Džumhur (Bosnia and Herzegovina, former World No. 23, current No. 67) leading Yash Mumbai Eagles, Tomas Martin Etcheverry (World No. 58, Argentina) turning out for GS Delhi Aces, and rising Czech talent Dalibor Svrcina (World No. 91) joining Chennai Smashers.

This lineup of established stars and young talents ensures that TPL’s seventh edition will feature the highest standard of competition in the league’s history.

A League Built on Legacy and Entertainment

Since its inception, the Tennis Premier League has aimed to make tennis a mainstream spectacle in India combining sport, entertainment, and digital innovation. Now entering its seventh consecutive season, TPL stands tall as one of India’s most successful sports leagues, becoming only the fourth league in the country to reach this milestone, alongside the IPL, ISL, and Pro Kabaddi League.

Backed by Indian tennis greats Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Mahesh Bhupathi (CEO, SG Pipers Bengaluru), along with Bollywood icons Rakul Preet Singh and Sonali Bendre Behl, the league has created a distinctive identity blending elite sport with fan-driven engagement.

“The 2025 season marks a new chapter,” said Kunal Thakkur, Co-founder of TPL. “This year we have some of the world’s best names like Luciano Darderi, Corentin Moutet, and Alexandre Muller alongside our very own Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna. Having athletes of this calibre not only elevates the standard of play but also motivates young Indian players to aim higher.”

Co-founder Mrunal Jain echoed the sentiment, adding, “The lineup reflects TPL’s growing global appeal. To have top-100 international players competing for Indian franchises is a huge boost it’s the perfect mix of talent, entertainment, and sporting excellence. Fans are in for the most exciting season yet.”

Leander Paes: “Season 7 Will Be the Most Electrifying Yet”

Leander Paes, brand ambassador of GS Delhi Aces, believes Season 7 will take the league to unprecedented heights. “The Tennis Premier League has evolved into one of India’s premier sporting properties. Season 7, with its world-class marquee players, promises to be the most exciting edition yet. Fans will witness high-quality tennis in a unique, engaging format that keeps spectators hooked from start to finish. Personally, I’m looking forward to the auction and to seeing how the teams take shape this year.”

The league’s innovative format combining singles, doubles, and mixed doubles within a team structure has been praised for keeping matches fast-paced, unpredictable, and engaging for fans across all age groups. Beyond the court, TPL has played a pivotal role in promoting tennis across India, creating opportunities for domestic players to train and compete alongside world-class professionals. Its commitment to grassroots engagement, coupled with digital-first fan interaction, has made it a template for how non-cricket sports can succeed in India’s entertainment-driven sports market.

As the countdown to Season 7 begins, the stage is set for an exhilarating celebration of tennis, competition, and camaraderie. With the auction just days away and the biggest names in world tennis set to grace Ahmedabad in December, one thing is certain the Tennis Premier League Season 7 is ready to serve up its most spectacular edition yet.
