Pukhraj Singh Gill produced a career-defining performance at the IGPL Invitational Jamshedpur 2025, cruising to his first professional victory with a record-breaking nine-shot margin.

Hosted by Union Minister Mr. Arjun Munda, the sixth event of the IGPL Tour saw the 27-year-old from Chandigarh deliver an extraordinary three-round total of 23-under par with just one bogey across 54 holes to secure a landmark triumph in emphatic fashion.

Veteran golfer Chinnaswamy Muniyappa carded a superb final-round 64 to finish a distant second at 14-under, while overnight runner-up Sachin Baisoya (69) slipped to third despite a late eagle on the back nine. It was Baisoya’s third third-place finish in six events this season, underscoring his consistency but also his frustration at not yet breaking through for a win. Harendra Gupta, Saarthak Chibber, and Sudhir Sharma shared fourth at 12-under, while Aryan Roopa Anand claimed sole seventh.

A Commanding Performance from Start to Finish

Pukhraj began the final day with a commanding seven-shot lead after opening rounds of 63 and 64, and he showed no signs of nerves in the closing 18 holes. His final-round 66 bogey-free and precise capped off a near-flawless week at the scenic Beldih Golf Course.

“I can’t even describe what I’m feeling right now,” said an emotional Pukhraj after his win. “It’s beyond happiness, beyond excitement it’s incredible to finally get my first professional victory. There was a lot of uncharted territory for me this week. I didn’t know how it would feel to get it done, but I handled myself well and stayed calm throughout.”

His composure was evident across all three rounds, with six birdies in the final round, three on each side. Remarkably, his only blemish of the week came on the 14th hole of the second round a testament to his accuracy and temperament under pressure.

Pukhraj also credited a few inspiring words from one of India’s leading golfers, Gaganjeet Bhullar, for helping him stay positive during recent near-misses. “A few weeks ago, after I finished runner-up at Jaypee Greens, I was having lunch when Gaganjeet Bhullar someone I’ve always looked up to told me, ‘You’re going to win many times this year.’ Those words stuck with me,” he shared. “For it to actually happen now feels surreal. Growing up, I watched him play, and now to compete alongside him and get my first win is truly special.”

The victory also pushed Pukhraj into second place on the IGPL Order of Merit, with earnings of ₹48,81,382 closing the gap on leader Aman Raj (₹60,48,858). Kartik Singh (₹47,67,857) sits third after finishing tied-12th in Jamshedpur, while Aman Raj ended the week in 17th place.

Muniyappa Finds Form Again

While Pukhraj stole the spotlight, it was also a memorable outing for 48-year-old C. Muniyappa, who produced a bogey-free 64 his best round of the season to claim runner-up honours. The former Hero Indian Open champion, whose last major win came in 2009, expressed satisfaction with his return to form.

“I’m very happy with how I played,” said Muniyappa. “Pukhraj was fantastic and deserved to win, but I’m glad to see my confidence and rhythm returning. I drove the ball well and didn’t miss much on the right side that really helped my approach play. I even chipped in on the 11th, which gave me a lot of momentum.”

Muniyappa also praised the IGPL Tour’s format and opportunities for seasoned players. “It’s a great tour we get to play without cuts, which gives us freedom and security. I’m really enjoying competing again.” For Pukhraj, this victory was not just a breakthrough but a release from the weight of expectation. Having come close multiple times, including his runner-up finish earlier this season, the Chandigarh golfer finally broke through with a performance that showcased his distance off the tee, precision with irons, and improved mental game.

“The Beldih course suited me perfectly,” he said. “My distance was a big advantage, and the layout allowed me to use it effectively. It gave me confidence right from day one.”

Looking ahead, Pukhraj is already setting his sights higher. “I’m really excited for Mumbai next I love that course. This win opens doors for every upcoming event. Now that the pressure of winning is off, I can play with a lot more freedom.”
