Payas Jain continued his outstanding run at the WTT Feeder Vadodara 2026 in Vadodara, emerging as the central figure of the tournament after clinching the mixed doubles title alongside Syndrela Das and advancing to the men’s singles final.

With a place in the men’s doubles final already secured as well, the Delhi-born paddler now stands on the brink of a rare triple crown at the inaugural edition of the event, being held at the SAMA Indoor Sports Complex.

The WTT Feeder Series Vadodara, presented by the Sports Authority of Gujarat and hosted by the Table Tennis Association of Baroda with implementation support from UTT, has provided a strong platform for Indian players to test themselves against high-quality domestic and international opposition. Jain has made the most of the opportunity, producing composed and confident performances across disciplines.

The highlight of Sunday morning came in the mixed doubles final, where Jain and Das showed resilience and tactical clarity to overcome the experienced second-seeded Indian pairing of Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade. After dropping the opening game 8-11, Jain and Das gradually seized control of the contest, winning the next three games 11-9, 11-3, 11-6 to secure the title. The turning point came in the second game, where the pair tightened their receive game and began to dictate rallies, putting sustained pressure on their opponents. From there, Jain and Das grew in confidence, using sharper placements and quicker transitions to close out the match decisively.

For Jain, the mixed doubles crown was an important step in a campaign that has showcased his adaptability and consistency. Earlier in the day, he had booked his place in the men’s singles final with a dominant straight-games win over fifth seed Akash Pal. Jain’s 11-5, 12-10, 11-9 victory underlined his growing maturity on the table, as he combined aggressive intent with patience in key moments, particularly in the tighter second and third games.

Awaiting him in the men’s singles final is top seed Manush Shah, setting up a compelling clash between two of India’s most promising players. Shah reached the final after defeating third seed Snehit Suravajjula in a four-game semifinal, winning 6-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-5. The result highlighted Shah’s ability to recover after losing the opening game and handle pressure in extended rallies, especially during the crucial third game. Jain’s meeting with Shah promises to be a high-quality contest, with both players in strong form.

Jain’s chances of a triple crown are further boosted by his presence in the men’s doubles final, where he has partnered Ankur Bhattacharjee with notable success. Their run to the final has been marked by clean execution and complementary styles, making them one of the standout pairs of the tournament. With finals lined up in singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles already secured, Jain’s consistency across formats has been one of the defining narratives of the Vadodara event.

Elsewhere in the tournament, the women’s singles draw has also produced notable performances. Anusha Kutumbale advanced to the final with an impressive straight-games win over seventh seed Sutirtha Mukherjee, prevailing 12-10, 11-5, 16-14. The third game was particularly intense, with Anusha saving two game points before converting her third match point to seal the victory. Her composure in pressure situations stood out as she booked a place in the summit clash.

Anusha will face Korea Republic’s Ryu Hanna in the final. The unseeded Korean produced a strong performance in the semifinals, edging past eighth seed Syndrela Das in a five-game battle, winning 11-4, 8-11, 7-11, 11-4, 11-9. Ryu’s ability to regroup after losing the middle games and close out the decider highlighted her competitive edge.

As the inaugural WTT Feeder Series in Vadodara heads into its final stages, Payas Jain’s pursuit of a triple crown has become the tournament’s standout storyline. Whether he can convert opportunity into history will be one of the most closely watched outcomes of the week.
