There’s something magical about a small fire. It starts quietly, then spreads sparks flying, warmth growing until it lights up everything around it. That’s exactly what HURIK’26 did this year.

What began as a friendly inter-division tournament soon turned into a roaring blaze of spirit, strength, and solidarity that swept across the NMIMS ASMSOC Mumbai campus. Following up on its legendary debut, the second edition of the Grand Inter-Division Sports Tournament, orchestrated by the ever-energetic NMIMS ASMSOC Sports Club, was not merely an event it was a movement.

A celebration of identity, teamwork, and youthful exuberance. For a few days, lectures and deadlines took a backseat, replaced by painted faces, echoing chants, and an infectious buzz that ran through every corridor.

This wasn’t about marks or attendance sheets. This was about belonging to a team, a color, a cause. It was about showing up for your people, screaming your lungs out for your division, and rediscovering what it feels like to compete, connect, and care.

A Campus Transformed

Every corner of the campus became a stage for stories. The cricket pitch turned into a theater of grit and glory where every run was fought for like a medal, and every wicket was met with a collective gasp of disbelief. The football field, meanwhile, was a storm of movement and emotion: blinding goals, lightning-fast counterattacks, and celebrations that shook the turf.

The energy was palpable, the rivalries fierce but there was something deeper beneath the competition. HURIK’26 wasn’t about who won or lost; it was about the shared heartbeat of hundreds of students giving everything they had.

If last year’s edition was a spark, this year’s was a bonfire bigger, brighter, and braver. HURIK’26 introduced new sports that instantly found a place in the students’ hearts. Chief among them was Pickleball a fast-paced, addictive mix of tennis, badminton, and table tennis that had the courts packed from day one. With Max Protein, Avaada Group, Ashtag Pickle, and AECC stepping in as sponsors, the sport found both visibility and vibrance, quickly becoming one of the campus favorites.

And then came the Tug of War the purest embodiment of what HURIK stands for. No skill or style here just raw strength, teamwork, and willpower. The sight of entire divisions pulling together, feet digging in, voices uniting in rhythm, summed up everything the tournament was meant to represent: unity through struggle.

Even the digital arenas weren’t quiet. The e-sports category FIFA and Clash Royale turned into a battleground of strategy and precision. What they lacked in physical sweat, they made up for in mental agility, proving that the competitive spirit of HURIK extends far beyond the field.

Moments That Made It Matter

But ask anyone who was there, and they’ll tell you HURIK’26 wasn’t defined by the trophies. It was defined by the in-between moments. The nervous pre-match pep talks. The adrenaline before a penalty kick. The handshake after a tough loss. The high-fives that crossed divisional lines. It was in the laughter echoing down the corridors long after the final whistle. It was in the drenched T-shirts, the lost voices, the exhausted smiles. Those were the real victories the memories that linger, the friendships forged in sweat and shared effort.

What HURIK’26 proved is that sport is more than a pastime it’s a language. It connects people who might never have shared a classroom or a conversation. It turns competitors into comrades, and divisions into families.

This edition wasn’t just about building on last year’s success it was about setting a precedent for the years to come. The Sports Club’s tireless coordination, the enthusiastic participation of every division, and the roaring support from the sidelines showed that HURIK has become something larger than an event. It’s a tradition a symbol of ASMSOC’s collective heartbeat.

As the sun set on the final day, and the cheers slowly gave way to silence, there was a shared understanding that something special had just taken place. HURIK’26 had once again lit up the campus not just with competition, but with camaraderie. It reminded everyone that sport, at its core, is about more than winning.

It’s about showing up. About giving your all. About finding that small fire within and passing it on. And as the embers of HURIK’26 fade into memory, one thing is certain: the flame it lit will keep burning, brighter and stronger, in every student who played, cheered, and believed.

Because that’s the thing about small fires they never really go out.
