India’s rising professional boxing prospect Nishant Dev extended his perfect start in the paid ranks with a commanding fourth-round technical knockout victory over Tanzania’s Ally Mbukwa, registering his fifth consecutive professional win on December 21, 2025.

Fighting in a scheduled six-round welterweight contest in Accra, Ghana, the Indian boxer once again underlined why he is considered one of the most exciting new names in Indian professional boxing.

Dev stopped Mbukwa at 2:37 of the fourth round after sustained pressure and well-placed body shots forced the referee to intervene. The victory improved Dev’s professional record to an impressive 5-0, with three of those wins coming via knockout, capping off an unbeaten debut year that has steadily built momentum and confidence.

From the opening bell, Nishant Dev looked in control. Calm, composed and economical with his movement, he dictated the pace early, working behind a disciplined jab and using smart footwork to maintain distance. Mbukwa, who entered the bout with an 8-5 record and a reputation for durability, attempted to close the gap and make the contest physical, but Dev’s timing and shot selection consistently disrupted the Tanzanian’s rhythm.

The first two rounds saw Dev focus on establishing control rather than forcing an early finish. He mixed head and body punches effectively, gradually wearing down Mbukwa while avoiding unnecessary exchanges. By the third round, the shift in momentum became clear. Dev began sitting down on his punches, targeting the body with greater intent and pushing Mbukwa back toward the ropes.

The decisive moment arrived midway through the fourth round. Trapped in the corner, Mbukwa absorbed a sharp combination highlighted by two heavy body shots that visibly drained his resistance. With Mbukwa unable to respond effectively and offering little in return, the referee had no choice but to step in and stop the contest, awarding Dev a technical knockout victory.

For Nishant Dev, who trains out of Woodland, California, the performance was another statement of intent. While still early in his professional journey, the Indian boxer has shown notable maturity in his approach balancing patience with aggression and displaying a growing understanding of how to manage rounds. His ability to break down opponents rather than rely solely on raw power has been a standout feature of his unbeaten run so far.

This fight also marked Dev’s fifth professional outing, following a year in which he transitioned smoothly from the amateur circuit to the professional stage. Each bout has brought incremental improvements, whether in ring control, defensive awareness, or finishing instinct. The Mbukwa stoppage, achieved through intelligent body work rather than a single explosive blow, highlighted that evolution.

However, as Dev himself would be aware, tougher challenges lie ahead. Moving up the professional rankings will inevitably mean facing opponents with greater experience, sharper ring IQ, and stronger physical attributes. The welterweight and light middleweight divisions are among the most competitive in boxing, and consistency against higher-calibre opposition will be the true test of his long-term potential.

Still, the early signs are encouraging. At 5-0 with three knockouts, Nishant Dev has laid a solid foundation for his professional career. More importantly, he has begun to carve out an identity as a composed, technically sound boxer capable of adapting his game plan inside the ring.

For Indian boxing, Dev’s progress is a welcome development. Professional success stories from India remain relatively rare, and each victory on the international stage helps build visibility and belief for the next generation. As he continues his climb, Nishant Dev carries not just an unbeaten record, but growing expectations.

The road ahead will demand patience, discipline, and resilience. On the evidence of his fourth-round TKO win over Ally Mbukwa, Nishant Dev appears ready to take that next step, one fight at a time.
