In a landmark development aimed at reshaping the landscape of women’s sport in India, Nike has announced a multi-year partnership with Sisters in Sweat (SIS), the country’s largest women-only sports and wellness community.
The collaboration promises to open new doors for thousands of women, promoting greater inclusion, access, and empowerment through sport.
Founded in 2017 by fitness coach and Nike-certified trainer Swetha Subbiah and former footballer Tanvie Hans, Sisters in Sweat was born out of a vision to create a safe, inclusive space where women could connect, play, and move with freedom and joy. What started as a grassroots initiative has now grown into a pan-India movement, with over 10,000 members actively participating in physical activities across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Hyderabad.
The announcement marks a significant milestone for both organizations, underlining a shared mission: to redefine sport for Indian women not just as competition, but as a tool for community, confidence, and lifelong wellness.
From Local Movement to National Momentum
Sisters in Sweat was conceptualized as more than just a fitness collective it’s a cultural shift. By offering 30+ sport and movement-based activities, the community enables women of all ages and fitness levels to embrace sport in a judgment-free, empowering environment.
“For too long, women have lacked spaces where they can fully own their place in sport,” said Tanvie Hans, SIS co-founder and former captain of the Karnataka State Football Team. “With Sisters in Sweat, we wanted to change that—and partnering with Nike takes this mission to a whole new level.”
Nike’s collaboration with SIS comes on the heels of its successful After Dark Tour, a global women’s race series that also hosted India’s largest-ever Women’s 10k event. The brand’s consistent efforts in spotlighting women in sport make this partnership both timely and transformative.
A Shared Vision for Movement and Inclusion
“Sisters in Sweat is a shining example of the power of women coming together through sport,” said Tarundeep Singh, General Manager, Nike India. “At Nike, we’re committed to fueling movement, joy, and community for women across India. We’re proud to partner with Sisters in Sweat to help make that vision real and to move the world forward through the power of sport.”
Through this partnership, Nike will support SIS initiatives with footwear, apparel, and sports expertise, starting with a multi-city football tournament aimed at engaging more women in grassroots sports. The support will extend to on-ground activations, community events, and access to performance-driven training and wellness programs.
For Swetha Subbiah, the partnership is deeply personal: “This feels like a full-circle moment. I’ve been a Nike trainer for over a decade, and now to be building something this meaningful with them is incredibly special. We’re building an active community of women who are taking ownership of their space in sport.”

As fitness and wellness continue to gain traction across India, partnerships like this are crucial in setting a precedent for how brands and communities can come together to make sport more inclusive and accessible. With Nike’s global resources and SIS’s strong local footprint, the collaboration is poised to elevate women’s participation in sport, from weekend warriors to competitive athletes.
At a time when women’s sport in India is on the rise but still faces challenges in visibility, infrastructure, and participation, this partnership signals a powerful commitment to closing the gap. It’s not just about sportswear or training sessions it’s about changing narratives, building sisterhoods, and creating a legacy of movement.
