India’s boxers continued their strong momentum at the BOXAM Elite International 2026, producing another commanding set of performances on Day Two of the prestigious tournament.

Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain and World Boxing Cup Finals champion Hitesh Gulia led the charge, as India recorded wins across multiple weight categories to underline the depth and balance of its elite boxing programme.

Lovlina, competing in the women’s 75kg category, made an assured start to her campaign with a polished and controlled display against Ukraine’s Olha Pylypchuk. The bout was a showcase of Lovlina’s ring intelligence, as she dictated the pace from the opening bell, landing clean combinations while maintaining disciplined footwork and distance. The judges unanimously awarded the contest 5:0 in her favour, a result that reflected her dominance and composure. It was the kind of performance that set the benchmark for the rest of the Indian contingent on the day.

In the men’s draw, Hitesh Gulia continued his excellent run in the 70kg division, shutting out Canada’s Vincent Santoriello with another emphatic 5:0 verdict. Hitesh controlled proceedings with sharp counter-punching and superior timing, never allowing his opponent to settle. His win reinforced his growing stature at the international level and added to India’s impressive tally in the middle-weight categories.

The women’s contingent had laid a strong foundation earlier in the day with a series of authoritative victories. Manju Rani, competing at 48kg, cruised past France’s Gloria d’Almeida in a one-sided contest, securing a unanimous 5:0 decision. At 51kg, Nitu produced one of the most decisive results of the day, forcing a referee-stopped contest in the opening round against Spain’s Laura Calderon. Her aggression and accuracy left no doubt about the outcome.

Kusum, also boxing at 51kg, faced a sterner test against Spain’s Claudia Alcaniz but showed maturity and tactical awareness to edge the bout 4:1. In the 70kg category, Arundhati Choudhary continued her impressive run with a comprehensive 5:0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Aziza Issina, using her reach and movement to control the contest. Sanamacha Chanu added another important win at 75kg, earning a 4:1 decision over Canada’s Viktoria Penney with a measured and disciplined performance. Sneha, however, saw her campaign halted after a 1:4 loss to France’s Andrea Badin, one of the few setbacks for India on an otherwise successful day.

The men’s bouts mirrored the women’s success, with Indian boxers showing strength across the lighter and heavier divisions. Pawan Bartwal advanced in the 55kg category after Thailand’s Thanarat Saengphet retired in the second round, while Jadumani Singh registered a solid 4:1 win over Ukraine’s Siiovush Mukhammdiiev, displaying consistency and composure throughout.

At 70kg, Deepak delivered a dominant performance against Spain’s David Edenel Rosalen, winning 5:0 and ensuring India’s strong presence in the weight class alongside Hitesh. Ankush provided one of the day’s most closely fought contests at 80kg, edging Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Zhakpekov 3:2 in a bout that tested both boxers’ endurance and tactical adaptability. In the heavyweight categories, Harsh Choudhary closed the day on a high note with a commanding 5:0 victory over Canada’s Bryan Colwell at 90kg, asserting control from the outset.

Not all results went India’s way. Rishi (50kg), Jugnoo (85kg) and Naman (90kg) exited the competition after losses to opponents from Kazakhstan, Spain and France respectively. However, the overall picture remained firmly positive, with the Indian team securing far more wins than defeats and demonstrating competitive strength across the board.

As BOXAM Elite 2026 progresses, India’s performances on the first two days have highlighted a squad that blends experience with emerging talent, capable of delivering consistent results against a diverse international field. With several boxers advancing deeper into the draw, the coming rounds promise tougher challenges, but Day Two has firmly established India as one of the standout contingents at the tournament.
