Key Events for the Day at World University Games 2025

4:55pm | And Finally we have a win in Table Tennis as Suhana defeats dutch player in 6 games, and she will be back for her Rd32 match at 8:15 against Taipei opponent Chien T Chuan

4:50pm | Sathish & Vaishnavi have won Mixed Doubles Round of 64  against the pair from Poland 15-5, 15-8 in Badminton. Suhana leads Dobrila 3-2 and she is now gunning to close the match

4:40pm | Its Suhana 2-2 Dobrila who can win two more to make it to the next round

4:30pm | Taneesha Kotecha loses 12 – 10, 2 – 11, 10 – 12, 13 – 11, 8 – 11, 6 – 11 in the Women’s Singles Round of 64 now that’s three of the four women out in Rd64.

4:25pm | Looks like we are going to see third defeat in a row as Suhana enters the arena for her match and Taneesha is 2-3 down in her match

4:20pm | And Pritha has lost her match 5 – 11, 11 – 8, 7 – 11, 7 – 11, 17 – 15, 4 – 11

4:15pm | Pritha who is against Turkish opponent is under trouble as she now trails 2-3, score line reads 5-11, 11-8, 7-11, 7-11, 17-15

4:10pm | Taneesha giving good fight to the Kotomi as she is now 2-2 and we move into the fifth game, 12-10, 2-11, 10-12, 13-11. Kotomi had defeated No. 2 seed Sofia Polcanova in straight games at WTT Contender Skopje 2025, a significant upset that brought her into the limelight.

4:05pm | Sayali Wani has lost her match to Chinese opponent Yang Yiyun in Women’s Singles Round of 64, she lost 6-11, 5-11, 7-11. 5-11. Yang who is Top60 player won the Women’s Singles trophy at the WTT Feeder Cappadocia 2025, which was her first singles victory at the WTT Feeder series after being a runner-up three times.

3:55pm | In Recurve Aryan was 29th with a 640 while Vishnu was 42nd with a 627 score and Mrinal was 47th with a score of 622. Team was able to make the cut for the knockouts at 12th and they will get a bye. The team will play the pre-quarterfinals on 24th July

Archery University Games

3:45pm | Impressive archery by Parneet and good comeback by Madhura, and shot a 701 to top the standings and Madhura shot a 347 in the second series to jump to 6th in overall standings. Avneet though slipped down with a 332 in the second series for a total of 673 for a 22nd place. Team was ranked second and broke the University Game Record and is now held by South Korea who scored 2084

3:30pm | Three important Table Tennis matches start now, Taneesha vs Kotomi JPN , Sayali vs Yang CHN & Pritha vs Ozge

3:15pm | And Parneet Kaur continues to score well, she is on 471/480 and is on top, while Avneet has shot well for 456 and Madhura is at 454 for a 13th place, the struggles continue in where Aryan is 425 for a 33rd place and Mrinal is 417 along with Vishnu at 412 for a 50th place.

3:00pm| And we have a second Medal confirmed as Vaishnavi has Reached the Semifinal, she defeats Sina 6-1, 6-4 in Women’s Singles Quarterfinal she awaits the winner of Britain and Slovakia. Vaishnavi Adkar scripts history, beats Sina Herrmann of Germany in straight sets in the women’s singles QF to ensure India’s 2nd medal at the 2025 World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr!

2:40pm | Indian Men Foil lost to France 20-45, while in Table Tennis the Men Doubles team of Ayaz and Devarsh lost in straight games to Picard & Rembert 3-11, 0-11, 6-11. Day over for India in Taekwondo as Etisha Das lost to Emily 0-2, All the four taekwondo players in action today lost in first match.

2:35pm | At the end of first 36 arrows Parneet continues to lead with a 355/360 while Avneet is on 341 and Madhura is on 340, Indian team is currently in second place 10 points behind South Korea, while in Recurve the best placed in Aryan Rana with a 320/360 while Mrinal has shot a 310 and Vishnu is at 306 for a 52nd place. The Team is ranked 15th currently. In the Badminton Mixed Doubles Round of 64 Viraj & Alisha scored a good win over Sri Lankan pair 15-12, 15-13

2:15pm | In the last action in Swimming for the day the Men 4×200 Freestyle team finished 7th in the heat and will not make the final. The team was made of Srihari (1:51.85), Aneesh (1:54.64), Shivank (1:57.19) and Shoan (1:57.50). Vaishnavi has won the first set comfortably 6-1 in Women’s Singles Quarterfinal

2:00pm | At the end of the event Naga was 33rd while Divyanka was 37th. In Badminton Abhinash & Varshini lost to Australian pair Jordan & Katlyn 15-12, 12-15, 15-17 in Mixed Doubles Round of 64

1:55pm | In Women’s 100m Breaststroke both the Indian swimmers were in the same heat and Naga clocked a 1:16.32 for a second place while Divyanka was Sixth 1:19.02, both wont be making the Semifinal. In Taekwondo Shivangi has also lost to Zeynep from Turkey 0-2 thus an end to her campaign as well.

1:45pm | Parneet continues to lead with a fabulous 179/180 in Archery Compound Ranking while Avneet is on 170 and Madhura is 169 for a 17th place. While in Recurve Aryan is the best placed with a 161/180 for a 23rd place while Vishnu & Mrinal have shot 156 in Recurve Ranking. Vaishnavi has started of well in her Quarterfinal match against Sina

USA Leads Swimming Medal Table at World University Games 2025

Of the 26 Gold medals being decided till now, 16 have been won by America showing the command they have on Swimming along with the history of great swimmers, Japan & South Africa are second long way behind with 2 Golds each

1:38pm | And Jedidah with a timing of 2:29.49 finished last in her heat and all the hopes of watching a Female Swimmer making out of a heat are splashed in this event as well. There were only 24 swimmers in action in 200m Butterfly and 12 had to make the Semis but Indians finished 22nd & 24th

1:32pm | In the 200m butterfly heats, Indian swimmer Nilabjaa had to swim alone and clocks a 2:45.11, Jedidah is in the Heat 3

1:26pm | Indian struggles in the Recurve Archery continue here as well Mrinal is the best placed with a 53/60 for a 35th place while Aryan shot a 53 and Vishnu started with a 52

1:24pm | So Srihari finished 28th with the cut to Semifinal being 22.72s and Jashua was 38th of the 71 participants. India Women Sabre has lost to Spain in a well fought tie 31-45, Indian team was leading initially but it was Spain who had the victory in the last. Swimming as such for India has been a challenging sport for India at the World University Games.

1:20pm | Srihari moves out of the Semifinals mark, he is now at 21st with 10th heat to go. In Archery Parneet has started off brilliantly shooting a 60/60 while Avneet has shot a 58 and Madhura a 57 to be placed 19th currently. Long way to go. In the 87kg category Rohit lost to Ismael 0-2 and that is the end of his campaign.

1:13pm | A 23.07 for Srihari in the Men’s 50m Freestyle and he tops the heat but there are five more heats to go, the fastest India Time is 22.43s in this discipline, Jashua was 3rd in the same heat with a 23.28s

1:05pm | In Women 50m Freestyle Nina was 38th with a time of 27.55 & Latiesha was 45th with a time of 28.34s and they wont make the Semifinals. Shivam lost to the Thai opponent 0-2

12:50pm | Indian Women Sabre team is in action currently against Spain and are leading at the moment 9-6, while in Taekwondo Shivam trails in his Rd32 match against Thai athlete Napat

12:40pm | Nithik, the lone Indian participant in the Men’s 200m Backstroke topped his heat but the timing of 2:05.34  was good enough only for a 25 out of a 32 swimmers in action, he misses Semifinals
