The 21-year-old has played some of his best tennis on the clay courts of Tehran, stringing together four consecutive wins and putting himself in contention for his first professional title.

The tournament, held from May 5 to 11, 2025, has seen Karan overcome a mix of international opponents, showcasing both his mental resilience and tactical maturity.

Round of 32 – vs Juan Jose Bianchi (VEN): 6-3, 7-5

Karan kicked off his campaign against Venezuela’s Juan Jose Bianchi. The Indian displayed excellent control from the baseline and capitalized on break-point opportunities to take the opening set 6-3.

The second set proved tighter, but Karan held his nerve in the closing games to seal it 7-5. This straight-sets win set the tone for the week.

Round of 16 – vs Stefan Vujic (AUS): 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(4)

He took the second set 6-4 and edged a tense final-set tiebreak 7-6(4), winning the match after nearly three hours on court. It was a test of endurance, focus, and self-belief, and Karan passed with flying colors.

Quarterfinal – vs Mert Naci Turker (TUR): 6-4, 6-4

Facing Turkish player Mert Naci Turker in the quarterfinal, Karan returned to business with a clinical performance. He kept the rallies short and served with precision, breaking his opponent once in each set to secure a 6-4, 6-4 victory. The composure he displayed in key moments reflected his growing confidence with each match.

Semifinal – vs S D Prajwal Dev (IND): 6-4, 6-4

In an all-Indian semifinal, Karan faced S D Prajwal Dev — a seasoned competitor on the ITF circuit. From the outset, Karan looked sharp, applying pressure from the baseline and dictating the tempo. A break in each set was enough for him to secure a 6-4, 6-4 win and book his spot in the final.

This was perhaps his most composed performance of the week, as he didn’t allow his compatriot any real openings to shift the momentum.

What’s Next: The Final Beckons

With four matches under his belt and not having dropped a set since his marathon second-round victory, Karan Singh now finds himself one win away from a career milestone — his maiden ITF singles title. The final will be both a physical and mental test, but his form suggests he’s more than ready.

This run in Tehran is already a significant milestone in Karan’s budding career. Not only will it boost his ATP ranking and confidence, but it also firmly puts him on the radar as one of India’s most promising players on the professional circuit.

Should he go on to win the title, it would mark a turning point, signalling the arrival of a new Indian face in international tennis.

Regardless of the outcome in the final, Karan Singh has emerged as one of the standout performers of the week in Tehran. His consistency, fitness, and fearless approach have been commendable, and fans back home will be eager to see if he can carry this form into future ITF and Challenger events. With the final still to come, the dream of lifting a first pro title is very much alive — and within reach.

Stay tuned as Karan chases history in Tehran.
