A moment of precision from Dejan Dražić just before halftime proved enough for FC Goa to secure a narrow 1–0 victory over Sporting Club Delhi in Match 15 of the Indian Super League 2025–26 season at the PJN Stadium, Fatorda, on Thursday night.
The result marked FC Goa’s second consecutive win and provisionally lifted them to the top of the table with seven points from three matches. Sporting Club Delhi, meanwhile, remain at the bottom, still searching for their first points of the campaign. Dražić’s decisive contribution also earned him the Player of the Match award.

Head coach Manolo Márquez made a solitary change to his starting XI, handing Ishan Pandita a place in the attack in place of Muhammed Nemil. The move signalled Goa’s intent to stretch Delhi’s backline with more direct presence up front.
On the opposite bench, SC Delhi’s Tomasz Tchórz introduced three alterations. Nora Fernandes replaced Vishal Yadav in goal, Ayush Adhikari slotted into midfield for Mohammed Aimen, and Alex Saji came into defence for Clarence Fernandes. The reshuffle reflected Delhi’s effort to tighten their defensive shape while retaining the ability to counter through wide channels.
The opening exchanges were evenly balanced. Both teams managed spells of controlled possession but struggled to carve out clear-cut opportunities. Goa sought to dictate tempo through patient build-up play, while Delhi aimed to remain compact and strike through quick transitions.

Sandesh Jhingan produced the first notable attempt for the hosts, glancing a header narrowly wide from a set-piece situation. Delhi responded with efforts from distance, with Matija Babović forcing Hrithik Tiwari into a sharp save and Abdul Hudu also testing the goalkeeper.
Despite the territorial battles, defensive organisation dominated proceedings for much of the first half. Delhi maintained compact lines to frustrate Goa’s attacking rotations, while the Gaurs’ backline dealt comfortably with Delhi’s sporadic forward thrusts.

The breakthrough arrived two minutes before halftime. Left-back Akash Sangwan advanced down the left flank and delivered a curling cross toward the far post. Dražić timed his run impeccably, peeling away from his marker before guiding a composed finish past Nora Fernandes.
The goal, Dražić’s third of the season, rewarded Goa’s persistence and provided a crucial psychological edge heading into the interval.
The second half saw Goa attempt to consolidate control and search for a second goal that would put the contest beyond doubt. Around the hour mark, they were handed a golden opportunity when Ayush Adhikari was penalised for handball inside the box. Dražić stepped up for his third penalty attempt in as many matches but failed to convert, sending his effort over the crossbar. The miss injected fresh belief into Delhi, who sensed a potential route back into the game.
Goa, however, did not retreat. They continued to apply pressure, pushing their full-backs higher and circulating possession with intent. Ayush Chhetri came agonisingly close to doubling the lead when his effort was cleared off the line by Rafael Ribeiro. Moments later, Ribeiro nearly made an impact at the other end from a corner, but his header drifted wide.
As the match entered its final quarter, Goa shifted focus toward game management. Márquez’s side retained possession intelligently, slowing tempo and forcing Delhi to chase the ball. The visitors introduced attacking substitutions in search of an equaliser, but they struggled to penetrate Goa’s disciplined defensive block.
Delhi’s inability to generate clear opportunities ultimately proved costly. While they demonstrated resilience and structure, their final-third execution lacked the precision required to unlock the Gaurs’ backline. Goa, in contrast, displayed composure and maturity in protecting their slender advantage. The midfield maintained control over transitions, while the defence remained alert to late surges.
The victory strengthens FC Goa’s early-season credentials. Two successive wins have underlined both their attacking quality and defensive organisation. While the missed penalty denied them a more comfortable margin, the ability to grind out results reflects growing cohesion within the squad.
For Sporting Club Delhi, the performance offered glimpses of defensive stability but also highlighted the need for sharper cutting edge in attack. As the season progresses, converting competitive displays into tangible results will become increasingly urgent.
On a night defined by fine margins, it was Dražić’s instinctive finish that separated the sides a single decisive moment that propelled FC Goa to the summit and reinforced Fatorda’s reputation as a fortress.
