India Gears Up for Final Archery World Cup Showdown in Madrid with 336 Archers Set to Compete

The fourth and final stage of the 2025 Hyundai Archery World Cup is all set to unfold in Madrid, and it promises to be the most competitive outdoor international archery event of the season. With 336 archers from 49 countries descending upon the historic Spanish capital, this week-long tournament will not only determine who secures the last remaining spots at the World Cup Final in Nanjing but also set the tone heading into the World Archery Championships in Gwangju this September.

For the first time, Madrid steps onto the World Cup stage as a host city. While it’s a debut for the circuit, Spain’s capital is no stranger to major archery events having hosted the 2005 World Championships, 2019 Youth World Championships, and co-hosted the 1992 Paralympic Games with Barcelona.

Madrid is the last opportunity for archers to book their place in the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final, scheduled for October 2025 in Nanjing, China. The format is simple: individual winners from the previous three stages (Central Florida, Shanghai, and Antalya) have already booked their tickets. Now, the Madrid winners and the highest-ranked non-winners across all stages will complete the final lineup.

Given the stakes and the size of the field, this stage carries significant weight not just for qualification but also as a form test before the world’s best compete in Korea later this year.

Schedule Overview (Local Time)

  • Tuesday, July 8: Compound qualifying
  • Wednesday, July 9: Recurve qualifying
  • Thursday, July 10: Compound eliminations
  • Friday, July 11: Recurve eliminations
  • Saturday, July 12: Compound team & individual finals
  • Sunday, July 13: Recurve team & individual finals

Qualifying and elimination rounds will be held at Vallehermoso Stadium, while the finals will be staged at the scenic Explanada Puente Del Rey, offering a fitting backdrop to crown stage winners.

Indian Squad: A Blend of Experience and Emerging Talent

India has had a stellar run in the 2025 World Cup circuit so far, sitting 4th in the overall medals table with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze medals, matching the USA in golds and just behind Mexico and Korea.

With the return of Tarundeep and the consistency shown by India’s compound squads, Madrid could be the event where India closes the gap with Mexico and South Korea in the rankings.
