India Shines with 11 Medals at Asian U18 Athletics Championships 2025 — Himanshu Leads the Charge with GOLD!

Dammam, Saudi Arabia — Team India wrapped up their campaign at the 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championships with a total of 11 medals (1 Gold, 5 Silver, 5 Bronze), finishing 8th in the overall standings and leaving a mark on the continental stage.

HIMANSHU WINS GOLD FOR INDIA IN JAVELIN THROW

India’s biggest moment came in the boys U18 Javelin throw, where Himanshu clinched the nation’s only gold with a winning throw of 67.57m.

The young thrower had trained earlier this year with Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and javelin legend Jan Železný in South Africa — and that experience clearly paid off in Dammam.

SILVER STARS & NATIONAL RECORDS

  • Men’s Medley Relay Team — Chirant, Sayed, Saket, Kadir stormed to a silver medal in 1:52.15, breaking India’s National Youth Record (1:52.96).
  • Devak Bhushan soared to 2.03m in the High Jump, earning a hard-fought silver.
  • In a gripping 400m final, Tannu surged ahead in the last 40m to snatch silver with a timing of 57.63s, showcasing nerves of steel.
  • Nitin Gupta, in the 5000m race walk, was poised for gold but a premature celebration on the home stretch saw him overtaken by China’s Zhu. Nitin clocked 20:21.51 for silver.
  • Nishchay, already a bronze medallist in discus, delivered a powerful 19.59m throw in Shot Put to add another silver to India’s tally.

BRONZE MEDAL BRIGADE

  • Aarti proved her sprinting prowess, clinching bronze in both 100m (11.93s) and 200m (24.31s) finals.
  • Nishchay threw 58.85m in the boys Discus final for his first medal at the meet.
  • Shourya Ambure (15, Maharashtra) blazed to 13.80s in the 100m Hurdles, bagging bronze with her second consecutive personal best — now ranked 4th in the world U18 list!
  • Lakshita Mahlawat added to the medal haul with a bronze in the girls Discus Throw, registering 41.30m.

HEARTBREAK IN GIRLS’ RELAY

There was disappointment in the Girls Medley Relay, where a baton mishap between Aarti and Edwina dashed India’s podium hopes despite a promising start.
