Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu Continue Strong Run on Day 2 of 72nd Senior Nationals Men’s Kabaddi Championship

The second day of the 72nd Senior Nationals Men’s Kabaddi Championship 2026 at the Sama Indoor Complex in Vadodara witnessed another sequence of dominant performances and closely contested fixtures as teams across pools intensified their push towards qualification for the knockout stages.

With the tournament entering a decisive phase in the group stage, several teams built on their opening-day momentum, while others fought hard to remain in contention in what has already emerged as a fiercely competitive championship featuring 29 teams from across the country.

Pool A produced one of the most closely fought contests of the day, with Andhra Pradesh edging past Telangana 47–45 in a thrilling encounter decided by just two points. Pottla Gopi Chand played a key role in Andhra Pradesh’s victory, contributing 17 points, while Gali Lakshma Reddy added 10 to support the raiding unit. Telangana mounted a strong challenge through G Raju, who delivered an impressive 20-point performance, but fell narrowly short in the final moments of the match.

Later in Pool A, Haryana delivered a commanding performance to register a 49–18 victory against Telangana. Neeraj Narwal led the charge with 11 points, supported by Nitin Kumar who accumulated nine. The defensive duo of Surjeet Singh and Nitesh Kumar added four tackle points each to ensure Haryana maintained control throughout the contest.

In Pool B, Madhya Pradesh clinched a dramatic 35–34 win over Goa in one of the closest finishes of the day. Bhavani Rajput led from the front with 14 points, while Uday Parte contributed nine. Madhya Pradesh held their nerve in the closing exchanges to seal the match by a single point margin, keeping their campaign firmly on track.

Tamil Nadu continued their impressive run in Pool C with a comprehensive 40–21 victory over Vidarbha. Sathish Kannan contributed eight points in attack, while Deepak S, named the New Young Player of the Season in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12, anchored the defence with eight tackle points. Tamil Nadu controlled proceedings from start to finish, combining effective raiding with a disciplined defensive effort.

The other Pool C fixture saw Himachal Pradesh defeat Gujarat 51–34 by a margin of 17 points. U Mumba’s Anil led the charge with 14 points, supported by Pappu Kamal Kumar and Mayank Saini. Gujarat’s Mitesh Prajapati registered 13 points in a spirited effort, but Himachal Pradesh’s superior tackle count and four all-outs ultimately proved decisive.

Uttar Pradesh recorded one of the most dominant wins of the tournament so far in Pool D, thrashing Manipur 70–33 by a 37-point margin. Uday Dabas delivered a standout performance with 25 points, while Sourabh added 12 to the tally. Uttar Pradesh accumulated 53 raid points and inflicted eight all-outs, leaving Manipur unable to cope with their sustained attacking pressure. Despite the defeat, Mayengbam Menson impressed for Manipur with an 18-point contribution.

In Pool F, Kerala secured a 45–30 victory over Chhattisgarh through a balanced team performance. Nandhu T contributed 11 points, while Adithyan added 10 in attack. Kerala’s defence ensured control throughout the match, limiting Chhattisgarh’s scoring opportunities. Sankar Mishra emerged as the standout performer for Chhattisgarh with 10 points.

Pool H saw Delhi register a commanding 64–42 victory over Tripura. Ashish led from the front with 18 points, while Himanshu Singh chipped in with 14 in a comprehensive display that included six all-outs. Tripura’s A Das produced a valiant 25-point effort, but Delhi’s defensive solidity and consistent raiding ensured they secured a comfortable win.

With two days of action completed, the pool standings are beginning to take clearer shape. As the group stage progresses, the intensity is expected to rise further, with teams pushing to secure their place in the knockout rounds of the championship.
