The seventh season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL), presented by Clear Premium Water, reached a thrilling conclusion at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium as GS Delhi Aces capped off a remarkable debut campaign by clinching their maiden TPL title.
In a high-intensity grand finale, the Delhi franchise delivered a composed and commanding performance to defeat Yash Mumbai Eagles and emerge as champions of one of Asia’s most competitive team tennis leagues.
The final followed the fast-paced TPL format that has become synonymous with momentum shifts and razor-thin margins, but GS Delhi Aces ensured there were few nervy moments on the night. The tie opened with the Women’s Singles, where 20-year-old Sofia Costoulas once again set the tone for her team. Facing Riya Bhatia, Costoulas was relentless from the baseline, mixing depth and aggression to cruise to an emphatic 18–7 win. The result not only gave Delhi an early advantage but also underlined Costoulas’ unbeaten run in singles across the season, making her one of the standout performers of TPL Season 7.
The momentum carried seamlessly into the Mixed Doubles, with Costoulas partnering Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan against the Mumbai pairing of Riya Bhatia and Niki Poonacha. The Delhi duo controlled proceedings from the outset, showcasing sharp returns, clear communication and confident net play. Their 16–9 victory further extended the Aces’ lead and put them firmly in command of the final.
Yash Mumbai Eagles attempted a comeback in the Men’s Singles, where Damir Dzumhur, ranked world No. 57, took on Billy Harris. Dzumhur brought his experience and consistency to the fore, dictating rallies and closing out points efficiently to secure a 16–9 win. While the Eagles earned valuable points, GS Delhi Aces still retained a healthy 11-point cushion heading into the decisive Men’s Doubles.

The title was sealed in controlled fashion by Billy Harris and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who faced Niki Poonacha and Dzumhur in the final match of the night. The Delhi pairing stayed composed under pressure, executed their plans with precision and limited errors to secure an 8–4 win. With that, GS Delhi Aces closed out a dominant 51–36 overall victory, sparking celebrations as they lifted the TPL trophy in their very first season.
Earlier in the day, two fiercely contested semi-finals set the stage for the grand finale. In the first semi-final, GS Delhi Aces took on Rajasthan Rangers and asserted their dominance early. The tie began with the Women’s Singles, where Sofia Costoulas delivered a statement performance, dismantling Ekaterina Kazionova 19–6. The result marked the biggest margin of victory recorded in a tie this season and once again highlighted Costoulas’ growing stature in the league.
The Rangers responded in the Mixed Doubles, as Kazionova teamed up with Dhakshineswar Suresh to edge past Costoulas and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in a tight 13–12 contest. However, the Men’s Singles proved decisive. Billy Harris produced one of his finest performances of the tournament, overpowering world No. 26 Luciano Darderi 17–8 to swing the tie firmly in Delhi’s favour. Harris then returned to court alongside Jeevan for the Men’s Doubles, where the Aces duo wrapped up the contest with a 3–1 win, completing a commanding 51–28 aggregate victory and booking their place in the final.
The second semi-final between SG Pipers Bengaluru and Yash Mumbai Eagles unfolded as a far tighter affair. Riya Bhatia gave the Eagles an early edge by edging out Shrivalli Bhamidipaty 13–12 in the Women’s Singles. The Pipers hit back in the Mixed Doubles, where Bhamidipaty and Rohan Bopanna held their nerve to claim a 13–12 win against Bhatia and Niki Poonacha, keeping the tie evenly poised.

The Men’s Singles saw Dzumhur once again play a crucial role for Mumbai, edging Ramkumar Ramanathan 14–11 with a composed display. Although SG Pipers Bengaluru fought hard in the Men’s Doubles, winning a close 13–12 contest through Ramanathan and Bopanna, Yash Mumbai Eagles finished just ahead on aggregate. Their narrow 51–49 victory sealed a spot in the final, setting up the title clash against GS Delhi Aces.
With Season 7 now complete, the Tennis Premier League once again showcased its unique blend of elite tennis, fast-paced action and fan engagement. Featuring India’s leading players alongside international stars, and backed by icons such as Leander Paes, Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi, TPL continues to grow as Asia’s biggest tennis league.
For GS Delhi Aces, however, this season will be remembered as the year they announced themselves in style champions on debut, with performances to match their ambition.
