The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has announced the continuation of PKSV Sagar, President of GMR Sports, as Chairperson of its Sports Committee for another term, reaffirming stability and continuity in one of the most influential platforms shaping India’s sports ecosystem.
Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer at Adani Sportsline, will continue as Co-Chairperson, while Neha Mathur Rastogi, Founder of WordsWork Communications, remains Secretary of the committee and Convenor of FICCI’s flagship annual sports conclave, Turf.
The reappointment of the leadership team reflects FICCI’s confidence in the direction taken by the Sports Committee over the past term, during which it has played a critical role in bridging policy, corporate investment, and grassroots sports development. Under Sagar’s leadership, the committee has consistently advocated for structured private sector participation in Indian sport, focusing on long-term sustainability rather than short-term commercial gains.
Over the previous term, the Sports Committee has been actively involved in shaping sectoral recommendations, policy discussions, and research-led interventions aimed at strengthening India’s sports framework. These efforts have included regular studies on sports governance, infrastructure development, and investment models, alongside initiatives encouraging corporate participation in grassroots programmes across identified focus states. The committee’s work has also aligned closely with national objectives around talent identification, athlete welfare, and the creation of viable pathways from grassroots to elite performance.
Speaking on his re-election, PKSV Sagar expressed gratitude for the renewed trust placed in him and highlighted the collective progress made by the committee. “I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust the members of FICCI have once again placed in me to lead the Sports Committee,” he said. “Being re-elected is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the collective strides we have made as a committee in advocating for a sports-conscious India with active and purpose-driven involvement from the corporate sector.”

Sagar’s continued leadership comes at a time when Indian sport is undergoing rapid transformation, with increased private investment, growing international exposure, and heightened expectations around governance and accountability. As President of GMR Sports, Sagar has been closely associated with some of India’s most prominent sports projects, giving him a unique perspective on both commercial imperatives and ecosystem-level challenges. His reappointment signals FICCI’s intent to maintain a steady hand as the committee navigates emerging opportunities and complexities in the sports industry.
The continuation of Sanjay Adesara as Co-Chairperson further strengthens the committee’s leadership depth. In his role at Adani Sportsline, Adesara has been instrumental in driving large-scale sports infrastructure and event initiatives. His experience complements the committee’s focus on building sustainable models that integrate infrastructure, events, and athlete development. Together, Sagar and Adesara represent two of India’s leading corporate sports voices, reinforcing the committee’s emphasis on collaboration between industry and policymakers.
Neha Mathur Rastogi’s ongoing role as Secretary of the Sports Committee and Convenor of Turf ensures continuity in the committee’s thought leadership and stakeholder engagement efforts. Under her stewardship, Turf has evolved into a key platform for dialogue among administrators, corporates, athletes, and global sports experts, addressing issues ranging from governance reforms to emerging technologies in sport.

FICCI President Anant Goenka and Director General Jyoti Vij acknowledged the contributions of the Sports Committee and welcomed the continuation of its leadership. Both extended their best wishes to the re-elected members, noting the committee’s role in strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem at a crucial phase of growth.
As the new term begins, the FICCI Sports Committee is expected to build on its existing work by deepening corporate engagement, refining policy recommendations, and supporting initiatives that expand access to sport at the grassroots level. With continuity in leadership and a clear mandate, the committee remains well-positioned to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of Indian sport.
