Double Golden Day for India at World Youth Archery Championships

Team India produced its most successful day yet at the World Youth Archery Championships 2025, clinching two gold medals in the compound team events and adding a bronze in recurve.

The performances not only showcased India’s growing strength in compound archery but also underlined the emergence of new names ready to carry the sport forward. It was a day to remember for India in compound archery.

In the U-21 Men’s Team event, the trio of Apar Mihir Nitin, Kushal Dalal, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam held their nerve in a nail-biting final against Germany. The match ended in a tie, forcing a shoot-off. Both teams registered identical scores, but India edged ahead on arrow distance sealing the gold medal by the barest of margins. Earlier, they had stunned heavyweights Korea with a 233–228 victory in the semifinals to book their spot in the final.

The U-18 Men’s Team of Yogesh, Mohit, and Devansh added another gold, overcoming challenges with composure to top the podium. Their consistency across rounds underlined India’s growing bench strength in the compound category.

Medal Assured in Women’s Compound U-18

India’s dominance extended to the Compound U-18 Women’s Individual category, where Prithika Pradeep and Surya Hamsini Madala both advanced to the semifinals. Since they face each other in the last four, India is guaranteed at least a silver medal. This all-India semifinal is a reflection of the depth in the women’s compound setup. Adding to the cheer, India placed five archers in the semifinals across events:

  • Sharvari Shende (Recurve U-18 Women)
  • Chikitha (Compound U-21 Women)
  • Yogesh (Compound U-18 Men)
  • Prithika Pradeep & Surya Hamsini Madala (Compound U-18 Women)

These results set the stage for another medal-rich finish as the championships progress.

India’s Recurve U-18 Women’s Team also contributed to the tally with a bronze. The trio of Sharvari Shende, Jiana Kumar, and Gatha Khadke blanked the United States 6-0 in the bronze medal playoff, showing sharpness and control under pressure. In the compound category, the U-18 Mixed Team defeated Spain to storm into the gold medal match, keeping hopes of another top-podium finish alive. Meanwhile, the Recurve U-18 Mixed Team fought hard but settled for a place in the bronze medal match.
