The CAVA Mens Nations League 2025 is set to ignite regional volleyball passion as the tournament kicks off from May 29 to June 4 in Fergana, Uzbekistan.
Featuring seven national teams from Central and South Asia, the event returns for another edition under the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), aiming to bolster the sport’s reach and competitive spirit across the region.
Originally scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, the tournament was shifted to Uzbekistan due to security concerns following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, India, on April 22, 2025. The decision was finalized at the CAVA Annual General Meeting in Nepal on April 25.
Tournament Structure and Pools
The teams have been divided into two pools:
Pool A
- 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan
- 🇹🇲 Turkmenistan
- 🇮🇷 Iran
- 🇮🇳 India
Pool B
- 🇵🇰 Pakistan
- 🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan
- 🇰🇿 Kazakhstan
Pool A is stacked with competitive sides, with traditional powerhouse Iran, rising force India, and hosts Uzbekistan expected to battle fiercely for semifinal spots.

In Pool B, defending champions Pakistan headline the group and are tipped to advance, but Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan could prove tricky opponents.
India vs Pakistan: A Rivalry Renewed
One of the tournament’s most anticipated fixtures will see India take on Pakistan, a clash that carries immense regional significance both on and off the court.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Pakistan captain Murad Jehan made his intentions clear:
“Our team has some very good professional players and we are confident of defeating India with a big margin. We’re looking forward to it.”
The event was originally planned in Pakistan, but India’s refusal to send its team citing safety concerns played a significant role in shifting the venue. Despite the political tensions, the two teams will now square off in neutral territory.
Pakistan’s Packed International Calendar
The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has laid out an ambitious calendar for 2025. PVF Chairman Mohammad Yaqoob emphasized the federation’s commitment to elevating the sport:
“Despite limited resources, we’re ensuring our teams participate in major international events. This will not only boost player development but also raise our profile globally.”
The efforts underline Pakistan’s aggressive push toward regional and international prominence despite financial and structural challenges.
India’s Focus and Opportunity
For India, the tournament offers both a sporting challenge and a chance to build momentum toward future continental competitions like the AVC Challenge Cup and the Asian Games.
With growing investments in domestic volleyball and recent performances improving, India will look to make a deep run in Fergana and establish itself as a formidable team in the CAVA zone.
The CAVA Nations League, though still in its developmental years, is becoming a crucial fixture in the volleyball calendar for South and Central Asian countries. With high-stakes matches, fierce rivalries, and a platform for emerging talent, this year’s edition promises gripping action.
For nations like India, Iran, and Pakistan, strong performances here could shape preparations for global tournaments. For others, it’s a chance to gain exposure and measure themselves against the region’s best.
