The Tata Consultancy Services World 10K Bengaluru continues to strengthen its global stature, with Procam International announcing Croatian high jump legend Blanka Vlašić as the International Event Ambassador for the 2026 edition.

The World Athletics Gold Label race is scheduled to take place on April 26, bringing together elite athletes and thousands of recreational runners in one of the most anticipated distance running events in the world.

Vlašić’s association adds significant sporting pedigree to the event. A double Olympic medallist and two-time World Champion, she is widely regarded as one of the greatest high jumpers in athletics history. Over a career defined by consistency and excellence, she claimed Olympic silver at Beijing 2008 and followed it up with a bronze medal at Rio 2016. Her dominance extended to the World Championships, where she secured multiple titles, along with World Indoor success.

Her personal best of 2.08m, achieved in 2009, remains not only a national record for Croatia but also stands as the third-highest clearance in the history of women’s high jump. Beyond numbers, Vlašić’s career has been marked by longevity, resilience, and the ability to compete at the highest level across multiple Olympic cycles.

Speaking on her appointment, Vlašić expressed both excitement and appreciation for being part of the Bengaluru event. She highlighted the unique nature of road races that bring together elite performers and everyday participants on a single platform. For her, the appeal lies not just in competition, but in the collective energy generated by thousands of runners pursuing personal goals.

She emphasised the broader value of running, describing it as a discipline that promotes both physical fitness and mental well-being. Her message to participants was rooted in preparation and perspective—encouraging runners to commit to their training while also embracing the experience of race day. The sentiment aligns with the ethos of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru, which has consistently positioned itself as more than just a race, but as a celebration of sport and community.

Vlašić’s involvement also reflects her continued engagement with the global sporting ecosystem. Since stepping away from competitive athletics, she has remained actively involved in initiatives that promote sport and athlete development. Her work with the ‘Champions for Peace’ programme and her role as Vice President of the Croatian Olympic Committee underline her commitment to contributing beyond her own competitive career.

For Procam International, the decision to bring Vlašić on board is part of a broader strategy to elevate the event’s international appeal. Vivek Singh, Joint Managing Director of Procam International, noted that Vlašić’s achievements and her ongoing contributions to sport make her an ideal ambassador. Her presence is expected to inspire participants while also enhancing the event’s global visibility.

The TCS World 10K Bengaluru has, over the years, established itself as one of the premier 10-kilometre races globally. Known for attracting top international athletes, the event has consistently delivered high-performance racing at the elite level. At the same time, it has built a strong connection with the running community, drawing participation from amateurs, fitness enthusiasts, and first-time runners.

This dual identity combining elite competition with mass participation has been central to the event’s success. It creates a unique environment where professional athletes and recreational runners share the same course, contributing to an inclusive sporting culture.

The 2026 edition is expected to continue this tradition, with a strong elite field likely to headline the competition. At the same time, the race will once again serve as a platform for individuals to challenge themselves, whether through personal bests or simply completing the distance.

Events like the TCS World 10K Bengaluru also play a broader role in promoting running as a lifestyle choice. In recent years, there has been a noticeable rise in participation across Indian cities, reflecting growing awareness around health, fitness, and community-driven sporting initiatives. The Bengaluru race has been at the forefront of this movement, consistently drawing large numbers and fostering a culture of regular running.

Vlašić’s appointment as International Event Ambassador adds another dimension to this narrative. As an athlete who has experienced the highest levels of competition, her presence bridges the gap between elite sport and grassroots participation. Her journey, marked by discipline and perseverance, resonates with the values that events like the TCS World 10K seek to promote.

As the countdown to April 26 begins, the focus will gradually shift to race-day preparations, elite entries, and community engagement initiatives. However, the announcement of Vlašić as ambassador sets the tone early, reinforcing the event’s commitment to excellence and its ability to attract global sporting icons.

For participants, it offers an added layer of inspiration. For the organisers, it strengthens the event’s identity on the international calendar. And for Indian athletics, it represents another step in connecting with the global sporting community through events that combine performance, participation, and purpose.
