Bengaluru has been confirmed as the host city for the India vs Netherlands Davis Cup World Group stage tie, scheduled to be played on 7–8 February 2026 at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium.
The announcement was made by the All India Tennis Association (AITA) in partnership with the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA), marking the return of Davis Cup action to Indian soil. The decision represents another significant milestone for Bengaluru and KSLTA, which have played a central role in shaping the city into one of India’s most reliable and respected tennis hubs. Over the years, Bengaluru has combined strong infrastructure, administrative consistency, and an engaged sporting culture to establish itself as a preferred destination for major international tennis events.

Bengaluru’s selection is rooted in its proven ability to host world-class tournaments. Most recently, the city successfully staged the Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs, the first time the prestigious women’s team competition was hosted in India. The smooth conduct of that event reflected not only efficient planning and facilities but also the enthusiasm of local fans, whose support added to the spectacle.
That success has further strengthened Bengaluru’s standing within the international tennis community, reinforcing confidence in its ability to deliver high-profile team events under the Davis Cup’s demanding home-and-away format.
A Rich Davis Cup Legacy
Bengaluru also brings a deep Davis Cup history to the table. The city has previously hosted several iconic ties involving India, including encounters against Australia in 1970, Sweden in 1985, Indonesia in 2013, Serbia in 2014, and Uzbekistan in 2017. Each of those ties contributed to India’s long association with Davis Cup tennis and underlined Bengaluru’s credentials as a venue capable of handling top-tier international competition.
The return of the Davis Cup to the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium therefore feels like a natural continuation of that legacy rather than a standalone event.

India enter the tie ranked No. 33 in the Davis Cup rankings, carrying momentum from a significant away victory earlier this year. In September 2025, the Indian team secured a 3–1 win over Switzerland, sealing qualification for the 2026 Davis Cup World Group Qualifiers. The result was particularly notable as it marked India’s first win on European soil, and is regarded as the team’s strongest performance since the competition format was revamped in 2019.
Led by Sumit Nagal and Dhakshineswar Suresh, the victory signalled renewed competitiveness within the Indian setup and injected optimism ahead of upcoming global challenges.

Awaiting India in Bengaluru is a formidable opponent. The Netherlands, currently ranked No. 6 in the Davis Cup rankings, arrive as runners-up of the 2024 Davis Cup. Their recent consistency and depth make them one of the strongest teams in the competition, promising a stern test for the home side.
With both nations eyeing a place among the Final 8 teams in Italy later in 2026, the Bengaluru tie carries high stakes. The home advantage, surface conditions, and crowd support are expected to play crucial roles in shaping the outcome.
KSLTA has expressed pride in bringing another marquee global tennis event to the city, reiterating its commitment to developing and promoting tennis across all levels. Speaking on the announcement, Shri Priyank M Kharge, Minister for IT, BT and RDPR, Government of Karnataka, Senior Vice-President of KSLTA and Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the significance of the occasion.
“It is an honour for Bengaluru to be chosen again as the venue for the Davis Cup tie against the Netherlands. We are confident it will receive strong support from the Government of Karnataka, corporates and the people of the city. The Davis Cup is all about nationalism and it is a very special event for all of us. We hope this tie inspires young athletes and brings the nations and tennis community together,” he said.
Further details regarding match schedules, venue arrangements and ticketing will be announced in due course. KSLTA and AITA are expected to leverage Bengaluru’s modern facilities, experienced organisational structure and passionate fan base to ensure a memorable Davis Cup weekend.
As the “World Cup of Tennis” returns to India, Bengaluru stands ready once again to host international stars and rally the country behind Team India in what promises to be a compelling and high-stakes Davis Cup clash.
