The Archery Association of India (AAI) has officially announced that the first-ever Archery Premier League (APL) will take place from October 2 to 12, 2025, at the Yamuna Sports Complex in New Delhi.

Along with confirming the dates and venue, the federation also unveiled the League’s logo, designed to represent dynamism, focus, and precisionthe essence of archery. The Archery Premier League is envisioned as a landmark development for the sport in India, aiming to combine world-class competition with elements of entertainment, education, and cultural celebration. By doing so, the League hopes to distinguish itself from other sporting events while enhancing the global appeal of archery.

A New Chapter for Indian Archery

Speaking on the occasion, AAI President Shri Arjun Munda said,

“We are proud to host this landmark event at the nation’s capital, reflecting our commitment to elevate the sport, both nationally and globally. The dates have been decided keeping multiple factors in mind, including the schedule and workload of archers and the weather conditions in the city. With this League, we aim to not only showcase top-tier talent from around the world but also highlight and celebrate India’s rich archery heritage.”

AAI Secretary General Shri Virendra Sachdeva added,

“To host the Archery Premier League here in New Delhi is a matter of great pride for us. With its dynamic format and inclusive approach, the League will bring unprecedented visibility to both Recurve and Compound Archery. We are excited to welcome international talent to the capital, while also giving fans a culturally resonant and thrilling sporting experience.”

Format and Participation

The inaugural edition will feature 36 Indian archers alongside 12 top international archers, grouped into six franchises. This unique team-based format is expected to bring a fresh dimension to the sport, offering fans fast-paced and engaging contests. Further details on the franchise teams will be announced in the coming weeks.

Beyond the competition, the APL will also serve as a platform to showcase India’s deep-rooted archery tradition, blending the sport with storytelling, education, and entertainment. By situating the event in the national capital, organizers hope to provide a global audience with not just high-quality archery but also a taste of India’s history and hospitality. The Archery Premier League thus marks an ambitious step forward for Indian archery—bridging grassroots tradition with international sporting spectacle.
