Backed by strong home support and a composed performance under pressure, the hosts sealed the title with a late winner, capping off an unbeaten campaign in front of their fans.
The final delivered on its promise of a high-quality contest, with both teams showcasing discipline and tactical awareness. Jharkhand made an early statement, taking the lead in just the fifth minute through Sugan Sanga, who converted a penalty corner with precision. The early breakthrough allowed the defending champions to dictate tempo, using structured build-up play and compact defending to keep Madhya Pradesh at bay in the opening exchanges.
However, Madhya Pradesh gradually grew into the contest. Their midfield began to assert control, and they found better rhythm in possession as the match progressed. Their persistence paid off in the third quarter when Nammi Geethasri brought them level in the 37th minute. The equaliser shifted momentum, forcing Jharkhand to recalibrate and deal with a renewed attacking push from their opponents.
With the score tied at 1–1 heading into the final phase, the match opened up. Both sides pushed for a decisive goal, but defensive discipline remained a key feature. Jharkhand, however, found the breakthrough when it mattered most. In the 56th minute, Sewani Kerketta capitalised on a crucial opportunity, scoring a field goal that ultimately proved to be the winner. While Jharkhand celebrated a successful title defence, the bronze medal match earlier in the day produced a high-scoring contest, with Hockey Association of Odisha defeating Uttar Pradesh Hockey 4–2 to secure third place. Odisha’s performance was marked by an aggressive start that effectively decided the outcome within the first half.
Priyanka Minz emerged as the standout performer in the bronze medal match, scoring twice in the opening quarter. Her goals in the 8th and 18th minutes set the tone for Odisha, giving them an early cushion and forcing Uttar Pradesh onto the back foot. Odisha continued to press their advantage, with Priya Princess Ekka adding a third in the 22nd minute, followed by Archana Kujur’s strike in the 27th minute to make it 4–0.

Uttar Pradesh attempted to mount a comeback, with captain Arika Kumari converting a penalty stroke in the 29th minute to reduce the deficit. They showed improved intent in the second half and added another goal through Mamta Kumari, who converted a penalty corner in the 58th minute. However, the early four-goal burst from Odisha proved decisive, as they maintained control to secure the bronze medal.
The championship as a whole highlighted the depth of emerging talent in Indian women’s hockey.
