Bengaluru FC delivered a composed and efficient performance to defeat FC Goa 2-0 in a crucial Indian Super League 2025-26 clash at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday.
Goals at either end of the match from captain Sunil Chhetri and substitute Namgyal Bhutia ensured the visitors secured all three points in a tightly contested fixture that could have significant implications in the race for the top four.

A well-worked combination involving Braian Sánchez and Ashique Kuruniyan opened up space in the final third, with the ball eventually falling to Sunil Chhetri. The experienced forward showed his trademark composure, guiding a precise right-footed finish into the bottom-left corner.

In the 14th minute, Sandesh Jhingan came close with a header that narrowly missed the target. Moments later, Brison Fernandes tested Gurpreet Singh Sandhu from distance, forcing the Bengaluru goalkeeper into action.

As the match approached its closing stages, FC Goa came agonisingly close to finding a breakthrough. In the 86th minute, Pol Moreno rose highest to meet a cross with a powerful diving header. However, Sandhu produced a decisive save, reacting sharply to preserve Bengaluru’s slender lead.
The save proved to be a turning point, effectively denying Goa the momentum they needed in the final minutes. Bengaluru FC put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, substitute Namgyal Bhutia finished off a well-constructed move, calmly slotting the ball home from the right side of the box after being set up by Lalremtluanga Fanai.
The goal not only secured the victory but also highlighted Bengaluru’s ability to remain clinical in key moments.
