In Srinagar, Real Kashmir FC look to finally open their account for the season against a resilient Namdhari FC, while later in Hyderabad, Sreenidi Deccan FC aim to convert dominance into points as they face struggling Dempo SC.
The Star Cement Indian Football League 2025–26 returns with a compelling double-header on March 25, where contrasting narratives define both fixtures.
Real Kashmir Seek Reset at Home
For Real Kashmir FC, the return to the TRC Stadium could not have come at a better time. After a difficult start to the campaign that has yielded just two points from four matches, the Snow Leopards find themselves at the bottom of the table. Their latest setback a narrow 0-1 defeat to Rajasthan United once again highlighted a recurring issue: competitive performances without tangible results.
A major factor behind their slow start has been logistical rather than tactical. A lack of adequate pre-season preparation combined with an extended run of away fixtures disrupted their rhythm early on. Assistant coach Masood was candid in his assessment, pointing out that the team had yet to benefit from home conditions a factor historically crucial to Real Kashmir’s identity.

The TRC Stadium has long been a fortress, with visiting teams often struggling to cope with the conditions and the intensity of the home support. Midfielder Shahid Nazir echoed this sentiment, underlining the psychological lift the squad receives from playing in Srinagar. For a team in search of momentum, familiarity could be decisive.
However, Real Kashmir’s task is complicated by the absence of key players Habib Fofana and Calvin Baretto, both suspended. Their unavailability will test the squad’s depth, particularly in maintaining defensive organisation and midfield balance areas that have already been under scrutiny.

In contrast, Namdhari FC arrive in Srinagar with a sense of quiet confidence. The Punjab-based side may not have converted draws into wins consistently, but their performances have shown structure, resilience, and tactical discipline.
Their recent 1-1 draw against Sreenidi Deccan was a strong example of their ability to absorb pressure and remain competitive against stronger opposition. Despite conceding possession, Namdhari stayed organised and capitalised on key moments—an approach that could prove effective in challenging away conditions.
One of their standout performers has been Manvir Singh, whose remarkable long-range goal in the previous match highlighted the team’s capacity to create moments of individual brilliance even with limited opportunities.
Head coach Harpreet Singh has emphasised mentality as the cornerstone of their performances. His side has consistently shown the ability to stay in games, and the next step, as highlighted by player Miloš Gordić, is converting those performances into victories.
Historically, Namdhari hold the edge in this fixture, having won three of the four previous encounters. Yet, their last visit to Srinagar ended in defeat a reminder of how decisive home advantage can be.
Sreenidi Deccan’s Push for the Top
The second fixture in Hyderabad presents a different dynamic altogether. Sreenidi Deccan FC, among the frontrunners this season, are in pursuit of consistency as they look to close the gap at the top of the table.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances in their previous outing against Namdhari, they were held to a 1-1 draw. The match exposed a key issue inefficiency in the final third. With nearly 85 percent possession, the inability to convert chances into goals remains their primary concern.
Head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto has been clear in his expectations. For Sreenidi to sustain a title challenge, they must translate control into results. Their playing philosophy—possession-heavy, structured build-up has been effective in dictating games, but without clinical finishing, it risks becoming sterile dominance.
Midfielder Ajay Chhetri, however, reflected a positive dressing room atmosphere, suggesting that the squad remains confident in its approach. The emphasis now is on execution particularly in high-pressure moments inside the box.

For Dempo SC, the challenge is more fundamental. Sitting at the bottom of the table with just two points, the Goan side is still searching for consistency on both ends of the pitch.
Their recent 0-2 defeat to Gokulam Kerala exposed familiar vulnerabilities defensive lapses and a lack of cutting edge in attack. Head coach Samir Naik acknowledged the disappointment but stressed the importance of maintaining belief within the squad.
Defender Mohamed Ali’s comments highlighted a crucial issue: defensive frailties are not isolated to the backline but are a collective problem. Addressing these structural issues will be key if Dempo are to compete against a side like Sreenidi.
Much of their attacking hopes will rest on Sebastián Gutiérrez and Marcus Joseph, whose ability to create and convert chances could be pivotal in breaking down a disciplined Sreenidi defence.
The two fixtures present contrasting tactical battles. In Srinagar, the contest is likely to be shaped by physicality, conditions, and emotional intensity. Real Kashmir will look to press aggressively and capitalise on home support, while Namdhari will rely on organisation and counter-attacking opportunities.
In Hyderabad, the emphasis will be on control versus resistance. Sreenidi will dominate possession, probing for openings, while Dempo will need defensive discipline and efficiency in transitions to stay competitive.
With crucial points at stake, both matches carry significant implications for the league standings. Real Kashmir have an opportunity to reset their campaign, while Namdhari aim to build on their steady progress. Meanwhile, Sreenidi Deccan seek to assert their title credentials, and Dempo look for a turning point in a challenging season.
As the league begins to take shape, these fixtures could play a defining role in shaping momentum for the weeks ahead.
