India’s para athletics contingent continued its commanding run at the Dubai Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026, adding another rich haul of medals across track and field events.

With multiple gold-medal performances led by Dilip Gavit, Sahil Sayyed, Tejalben Amra Damor and Bhavanaben Ajabaji Chaudhary, India’s medal tally swelled to an impressive 13 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Dilip and Sahil Anchor Gold Rush

Dilip Gavit once again underlined his consistency on the track, clinching gold in the men’s 400m T46 event with a time of 49.15 seconds. The performance capped a remarkable meet for Dilip, who had earlier secured gold in the 100m T46 with a sharp 10.94-second run. His ability to deliver across sprint distances has made him one of India’s standout performers in Dubai.

Sahil Sayyed proved equally influential in the field events. He topped the podium in the men’s discus wheelchair F54/55 category with a best effort of 34.51m, showcasing strong technique and rhythm through his series. Sahil had earlier added another gold in the wheelchair shot put F55, registering 9.44m to dominate the competition. His double success reflects growing depth in India’s wheelchair throwing contingent.

Tejalben Amra Damor produced one of the most polished track performances of the meet, winning gold in the women’s 200m T12 in 25.47 seconds. Her controlled acceleration off the bend and strong finish separated her from the field, adding another track gold to India’s tally.

Bhavanaben Ajabaji Chaudhary delivered in the throws, claiming gold in the women’s javelin F46 with a throw of 33.94m. Her series displayed consistency, but it was the gold-medal mark that sealed a crucial victory for India in the field events.

Strong Supporting Performances Add to Tally

India’s silver-medal winners ensured the momentum remained intact. Bhavani Valasamgari clocked 29.00 seconds to finish second in the women’s 200m T13/46/47 category, adding to her earlier bronze in the 100m T46/47 (13.29 seconds). Her back-to-back podium finishes underline her versatility in sprint events.

Bhagat Singh secured silver in the men’s shot put wheelchair F57 category with a throw of 12.79m, while Ashish Tanwar added another silver in the men’s discus F44 with a best effort of 30.80m. Yogesh Kathunia, a consistent presence in India’s discus events, finished second in the wheelchair discus F56/57 with a throw of 42.22m. Sunil Kumar also earned silver in the shot put F40/41 with 8.03m, while Navdeep placed fifth in the same event.

In the women’s wheelchair discus F56, Poonam Sharma secured silver with 17.83m, closely followed by Fatima Khatoon, who claimed bronze at 17.55m. Suvarnma Raj added another bronze in the discus wheelchair F54/55 category with a 16.34m effort.

On the track, Chirag contributed a bronze in the men’s 100m T35/36, finishing in 13.05 seconds, adding to India’s growing sprint tally.

Preethi Pal Headlines Sprint Success

Among the standout names earlier in the competition was Paralympic medallist Preethi Pal, who claimed gold in the women’s 100m T35/T36 with a time of 14.32 seconds. Her composed race execution once again highlighted her status as one of India’s leading para sprinters.

Across two action-packed days, India accumulated 13 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals, reflecting strength across sprinting, middle-distance, and throwing disciplines.
