India will have a formidable presence on the final day of the BOXAM Elite International 2026, with 12 boxers eight women and four men sealing their places in the gold medal bouts after a commanding semifinal showing on Friday.

Competing in La Nucia, Alicante, the prestigious tournament has brought together over 200 boxers from 20 nations. India, with 12 finalists, will be the most represented country in Saturday’s finals, ahead of Kazakhstan (11), Ukraine (5), and hosts Spain (4). The scale of India’s presence underlines the depth across categories, particularly in the women’s division.

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) was once again clinical, registering a unanimous 5:0 victory over Wales’ Rosie Eccles. Lovlina controlled distance effectively, dictated the tempo with sharp combinations, and never allowed her opponent to settle. Her progression to the final reinforces her strong return to form as she eyes another international title.

India is already guaranteed a gold medal in the women’s 54kg category, where Preeti and Poonam will face each other in an all-Indian final. Preeti produced a dominant 5:0 win over France’s Aya Hamdi, while Poonam secured a 4:1 decision against England’s Ivy-Jane Smith, ensuring India’s supremacy in the division.

The women’s contingent continued its emphatic run across weight classes:

  • Manju Rani (48kg) outboxed Ukraine’s Solomia Lyniv 5:0 with disciplined footwork and ring control.
  • Nitu (51kg) blanked Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat 5:0 in a technically sound performance.
  • Priya (60kg) dismantled Maud van der Toorn of the Netherlands 5:0.
  • Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) swept past Spain’s Dunia Martinez 5:0.
  • Naina (80kg) impressed with a 5:0 win over Kazakhstan’s Guzal Sadykova.

India’s medal haul in the women’s division was further bolstered by bronze finishes from Pranjal Yadav (65kg), Kajal (65kg), Sanamacha Chanu (75kg), and Mankirat Kaur (80+kg), each bowing out after competitive semifinal efforts.

Sachin Headlines Men’s Charge

In the men’s section, Sachin (60kg) extended his impressive tournament run with a 4:1 victory over England’s Jack Dryden. Displaying composure under pressure, Sachin countered effectively and finished stronger in the closing rounds to secure his place in the final.

Deepak (70kg) delivered one of the standout performances of the day. He forced a first-round RSC (Referee Stopped Contest) against Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Mursal, a World Boxing Cup Finals silver medallist, underlining his growing confidence at the elite level.

Akash (75kg) and Ankush (80kg) both negotiated physically demanding contests against Kazakh opponents, winning 4:1 and 4:0 respectively. Their performances reflected tactical maturity and sharp conditioning, critical against experienced Central Asian opposition. India’s men’s campaign also saw bronze medal finishes from Jadumani Singh (55kg), Mohammed Hussam Uddin (60kg), and Hitesh Gulia (70kg), all of whom had earlier impressed in the tournament with commanding victories.

India’s 12 finalists represent one of its strongest showings at BOXAM in recent years. The balanced medal spread across lighter and middleweight divisions suggests systematic preparation and depth within the national program. The women’s squad, under new head coach Santiago Nieva, has particularly stood out for its technical clarity and ring discipline. Across semifinals, Indian boxers demonstrated control in both offensive phases and defensive transitions, frequently winning by unanimous verdicts.

Meanwhile, the men’s team showcased resilience against traditionally strong boxing nations like Kazakhstan and England. The ability to convert semifinal opportunities into finals appearances signals competitive sharpness ahead of a packed international calendar.

Finals Outlook

Saturday’s finals will test India’s consistency against a high-quality field, especially with Kazakhstan sending 11 finalists and Ukraine and Spain also in contention. The 54kg all-Indian final guarantees at least one gold, but the broader target will be to convert the majority of these 12 appearances into titles.

With momentum on their side and multiple weight divisions covered, India enters the final day of BOXAM Elite 2026 positioned to finish atop the medal standings.

The stage is set for a decisive showdown.
