The fourth UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships concluded in style at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium, with Delhi’s Payas Jain and PSPB’s Swastika Ghosh lifting the men’s and women’s singles titles after two gripping finals that showcased resilience, precision and high-quality shot-making.
Both players secured their first singles crowns of the season with hard-fought 4–2 victories.
In the Men’s Singles final, Payas Jain overcame Railways’ Akash Pal in a battle marked by momentum swings, prevailing 12-10, 10-12, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8. After falling behind 1–2, Payas elevated his rhythm and tightened his control of the rallies, seizing the next three games with sharper placement and cleaner execution. The closing stages reflected his composure under pressure, as he denied Akash any foothold in the decider.

The Women’s Singles final proved to be equally dramatic. Swastika Ghosh edged past West Bengal’s Syndrela Das 12-10, 12-14, 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 12-10 in a contest dominated by long exchanges and attacking flair. Both players produced standout defensive stretches and fearless counters, but Swastika’s steadiness in the sixth game ultimately secured her the title.

The youth categories also delivered standout performances. Priyanuj Bhattacharyya of Assam clinched the Youth Boys U-19 title with a 4–1 win over M. Balamurugan, recovering confidently after a second-game setback. In the Youth Girls U-19 section, Syndrela Das bounced back from her singles final loss with a commanding 4–0 win over Shriya Anand, closing out the match with disciplined control and quick transitions.
Earlier in the men’s semifinals, Akash advanced after a sharp 4–1 win over Manush Shah, raising his intensity after the opening exchanges to dominate the latter stages. Payas booked his spot with a composed straight-games victory over Maharashtra’s Jash Modi, navigating key points with calm precision.
The quarterfinals saw strong displays from the top seeds: Manush defeated Harmeet Desai, Akash beat P.B. Abhinand, while Payas and Jash registered clean 3–0 wins.
In the women’s draw, Swastika powered past Tamil Nadu’s Selena Deepthi with a 4–0 semifinal win built on quick, aggressive play. Syndrela joined her after recovering from a slow start to beat PSPB’s Yashaswini Ghorpade 4–1. The quarterfinals mixed routine wins with tougher battles Swastika and Syndrela advanced comfortably, while Selena and Yashaswini needed five games to progress.
The U-19 Boys semifinals saw Priyanuj rally past M. Senthil Kumar after dropping the opener, while Balamurugan held off Punit Biswas in four games. In the Girls section, Shriya defeated Avisha Karmakar despite a brief mid-match slump, and Syndrela edged Sayanika Maji in a tense five-game thriller that featured a decisive recovery in the fourth game.
Across all divisions, the competition lived up to expectation mixing emerging talent with experienced performers, producing intense rallies and tactical variety. As the fourth edition concludes, the event once again underlined the rising depth of Indian table tennis, with fresh champions, breakout youngsters and fiercely contested matches adding to a strong domestic season.
