India delivered a commanding display in the compound team events at the Asian Archery Championships 2025, with both the men’s and women’s teams advancing to the gold-medal matches after disciplined, high-scoring semifinal performances.

With consistency across ends, clutch shooting under pressure, and balanced contributions from all three archers in each squad, India reaffirmed its position as one of Asia’s strongest compound nations. The semifinal results India 234–227 over Bangladesh in women’s team, and India 235–235 (TB win) over Thailand in men’s team underline the team’s growing trust, maturity, and tactical sharpness heading into the finals.

India maintained control from the very first arrow. In End 1, the team opened with a solid 58, built on tight 10s from all three archers. Bangladesh responded respectably with 54, but the four-point deficit quickly widened as the match progressed.

The second end was nearly identical for India another 58, driven by two Xs and high-quality 10s. Bangladesh shot 56, unable to match the Indian trio’s rhythm and grouping. By the third end, India had built a clear advantage and then delivered their sharpest phase of the match: 59/60, missing perfection by just one point. Bangladesh managed 58, doing enough to stay competitive but unable to close the gap.

The final end again saw India register 59, closing the match at 234, a total that reflects high collective discipline rather than individual highs and lows. Bangladesh’s 59 in the final end was their best of the match, but the deficit had grown too large by then. What stood out most in India’s performance was their stability 58, 58, 59, 59 across four ends. Every end was good enough to win, and every archer contributed consistently, ensuring no pressure spikes or swings. With this victory, India advanced to the final where they will face Korea, the top seed and the region’s most decorated compound nation.

The Indian team in the final will feature Deepshikha, Prathika Pradeep, and Jyothi Surekha Vennam a trio combining experience, world championship pedigree, and youthful sharpness.

Men’s Team: India Prevail in Shoot-Off Thriller Against Thailand

In contrast to the smooth progression of the women’s team, the men’s semifinal was a tense, tactical battle. The Indian trio of Prathamesh Fuge, Sahil Rajesh Jadhav, and Abhishek Verma were pushed to the very last arrow by a resilient Thailand team.

The match finished 235–235, forcing a shoot-off.

India began strongly with a 59, matching Thailand’s opening total. Both teams showed early composure, converting their opportunities and avoiding unnecessary 9s. The second end followed a similar pattern, with both sides again locked at 59 (118–119 for Thailand due to a one-point swing).

The third end saw India rise to their sharpest phase of the match: 57 for Thailand against India’s 57? Actually adjusting to image: India shot 57? No the table shows 175–176, with India at 176. This indicates India shot 58 in the third end, overtaking Thailand’s 57 to seize a one-point lead heading into the final round.

But Thailand struck back immediately. In the fourth end, both teams shot 59, maintaining the one-point difference and sending the match into a razor-thin finish that ultimately required a tiebreak.

Shoot-Off: India Hold Nerve

The shoot-off was decided by a single arrow and placement. Thailand shot 10-10-9 for 29, a strong score. India responded with 10-10-9 as well another 29 but crucially, India’s 10s were closer to the center, giving them the win on the “closest to the X” criterion. Victory by shoot-off is always a test of temperament, and India’s composure under pressure stood out. Verma, the veteran presence, anchored the team with reliability, while Fuge and Jadhav matched Thailand shot for shot.

India now move into the gold medal match against Kazakhstan, a team that shot 235 in their semifinal victory.

Road to the Finals: India’s Consistency Across Rounds

Both Indian teams had strong quarterfinal performances as well:

  • Women: India defeated Vietnam 235–225, showing early signs of their high-scoring rhythm.
  • Men: India eliminated Malaysia 235–234, another tight match that tested their finishing accuracy.

These results highlight how well India have adapted to the championship’s conditions. Across all matches, totals of 234, 235, 235 for both teams show a performance band consistently around the world-class level.

Women’s Final: India vs South Korea

India face Korea. Korea’s timing, execution under pressure, and historical dominance will challenge India, but the Indian lineup has the firepower and big-stage experience to push for gold.

Men’s Final: India vs Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s team, brings balanced shooting and strong grouping. India’s ability to stay disciplined especially in mid-ends will be crucial.

With both teams reaching the finals, India have put together one of their strongest collective compound team campaigns in recent Asian Championship history. High scoring, calm execution, and tactical poise have defined their run so far. Whether in a dominant win or a shoot-off thriller, India have shown they can adapt to any match scenario.

Two gold-medal opportunities now await and India stand well-placed to challenge for both.
