The RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League (PVL) powered by Scapia is back with its most international edition yet.
Kicking off on October 2 in Hyderabad, Season 4 will welcome a dazzling array of overseas talent from continental champions and World League winners to promising young stars underscoring the league’s growing stature as one of the premier destinations for professional volleyball outside the traditional strongholds.
Host city Hyderabad will witness plenty of samba flair this season as the Hyderabad Black Hawks unveiled two high-profile Brazilian signings.
Paulo Iury Lamounier, a setter with sharp instincts, joins the side after guiding Shahdab Yazd to a runners-up finish in the AVC Champions League, Asia’s most prestigious club competition. He is joined by Vitor Yudi Yamamoto, a dynamic attacker who first made waves with Brazil’s gold-winning team at the 2018 South American U21 Championship. More recently, Yamamoto helped Austrian side SK Zadruga Aich/Dob clinch a historic domestic treble. Their flair and athleticism are expected to electrify the Black Hawks’ home support in Hyderabad.
Kochi Blue Spikers: French Star Headlines Elite Roster
The Kochi Blue Spikers have gone big on pedigree, roping in some of the biggest names in world volleyball. Leading their charge is Nicolas Maréchal, a French outside hitter with a glittering resume. A 2015 European Champion and World League winner, Maréchal is currently plying his trade at Italian powerhouse Modena Volley.

Adding depth is Byron Caleb Keturakis, a towering Canadian setter standing at 6’8”, who was part of his national team’s 2023 Pan America Cup triumph. Together, they bring a blend of tactical sophistication and raw power to Kochi’s lineup.
Bengaluru Torpedoes: American Firepower
The Bengaluru Torpedoes will rely on an all-American pairing to mount their title challenge.
Jalen Penrose, an explosive opposite, was instrumental in Team USA’s gold medal run at the 2023 NORCECA Pan Am Final Six. He will be partnered by Matthew West, a decorated setter and three-time NCAA All-American, who also represented the U.S. youth-national program.
The duo is expected to be one of the most formidable partnerships in the competition.
Goa Guardians: Versatility in Attack
The newly rebranded Goa Guardians have also tapped into American talent. Veteran attacker Jeffrey Menzel, who has donned the U.S. colours at the World University Games, brings valuable international experience. He is joined by Nathaniel Dickinson, a versatile universal player groomed in the American collegiate system.
Their presence ensures Goa will have both power and flexibility in key attacking phases.
Delhi Toofans: Venezuelan Strength
The Delhi Toofans have turned to Venezuela for reinforcements. Jesús Chourio, a national team regular who represented his country at the 2014 FIVB World Championship, adds reliability and experience. Alongside him is Carlos Berrios, a rising outside hitter who earned bronze at the Pan America U23 Cup, symbolizing Venezuela’s emerging wave of volleyball talent.
Chennai Blitz: Brazilian Edge & Ahmedabad Defenders: A Diverse Mix
The Chennai Blitz added bite to their attack by signing Brazilian attacker Luiz Felipe Perotto, known for his raw power at the net. His aggressive style of play is expected to give Chennai a sharper edge in crunch matches. One of the most cosmopolitan squads this year belongs to the Ahmedabad Defenders.
Batsuuri Battur, a Mongolian outside hitter and standout at the 19th Asian Games, arrives with a strong reputation from the Mongolian Premier League, where he has collected multiple individual awards. Complementing him is Venezuelan middle blocker Ronald Martínez, a 2.06m presence with stints across Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Israel.
This blend of Mongolian grit and Venezuelan muscle makes Ahmedabad a team to watch.
Calicut Heroes: From Sri Lanka to Benin
The Calicut Heroes have scouted far and wide for reinforcements. They signed Tharusha Chamath, a prolific Sri Lankan outside hitter who topped the scoring charts in the UAE First League with Shabab Al-Ahli (2022). Alongside him is Dete Bosco from Benin, who impressed with dominant displays at the Red Bull Bak Line Tournament in Türkiye.
Kolkata Thunderbolts: Experience Meets Consistency
The Kolkata Thunderbolts have added significant international experience to their roster. Sebastián Gómez, a Colombian outside hitter with a decade-long national team career (2012–2022), arrives after being named MVP of the Maldives League in 2025. He is paired with Matin Takavar, an Iranian middle blocker who boasts 14 years in the Iranian and Turkish Super Leagues and five podium finishes.
The combination of consistency and leadership could make Kolkata one of the strongest contenders.
Mumbai Meteors: Norwegian Duo
The Mumbai Meteors complete the international roster list with two Norwegians. Petter Alstad Østvik, a middle blocker crowned the Best Blocker in Norway’s Mizunoliga (2024/25), brings defensive assurance. He teams up with veteran outside hitter Mathias Loftesnes, who has collected an astonishing 17 podium finishes in European competitions since 2009.
Their European pedigree adds depth to the Meteors’ ambitions.
