Welcome to our extensive coverage & Live Update of day 2 at FISU World University Games 2025
The event will feature 18 sports across 23 venues in six German cities, including Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mulheim an der Ruhr, Hagen, and Berlin.
India had a mixed day yesterday, with the bright spotlight on Rohit Benedicton who better not one but two National Records.
And we have you covered for the schedule for the day.
Here are medal event for the day at World University Games 2025 on Day 2 for India ( Subject to Qualification )
- 12:30pm | Fencing Men Epee ( Pool to Final )
- 1:02pm | Taekwondo | Women Team Poomsae ( Rd16 to Final )
- 1:34pm | Taekwondo | Men Team Poomsae ( Rd16 to Final )
- 2:45pm | Fencing Women Foil ( Pool to Final )
- 10:50pm | Swimming | Women 400m Medley
11:00pm | Indian Men team have been blanked by China 0-3 in the Men Team Table Tennis.
10:40pm | ITS A YET ANOTHER NATIONAL RECORD !! Srihari Nataraj finishes third in his heat and narrowly misses the finals by 0.07s but in that process he betters the national record in the 100m Freestyle once again clocking 1:48.11
10:30pm | Its Semifinal Time, Can Srihari clock yet another National Record, wait till that happens, he goes in the H2, the timings in the H1 were pretty fast so its going to be very challenging, unless off course Srihari smashes the NR again.
10:30pm | What a star is Sayali, three games all went down the wire she won 14-12, 19-17, 13-11 over Isa Cok and India has entered the Quarterfinal. We will be playing Poland for a place in the Semifinals. Indian team are up against China and they are struggling. Already down 0-1
9:30pm | Taneesha lost to Lutz by 0-3 and its down to the last match, upto Sayali now to ensure India sail to the Quarterfinal
9:00pm | In the next match Isa blanked Taneesha in three games but Pritha has bought India back in the match winning the third and crucial match
8:00pm | In the Table Tennis women’s Team Round of 16, women team are playing a strong French side for a place in the Quarterfinal, first up is Sayali Wani who is playing Lutz, what a match it was Sayali won 5-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-13, 11-9 to give India 1-0 lead
7:30pm | Indian Basketball 3×3 have been knocked out as they lost both their matches in the group. India lost 19-21 after losing to Germany 6-21 earlier today
7:15pm | India has drawn USA in the PreQF in the mixed team Badminton and will fancy their chances but they may meet Malaysia in QF which can be a tough opponent
7:00pm | India is currently playing Mongolia in the Basketball 3×3 match and will need to win to move to the next round, looks challenging though with the way Mongolians are playing.
6:00pm | India lost a close clash with Hong Kong in the Group phase, 2-3, both the teams will make the knockouts.
Highlight for the day at World University Games 2025 has to be Srihari Nataraj today. He bettered the National Record.
5:30pm | Colombia wins the next match and its 2-2 as Ayaz lost to Camilo 0-3 and now its onto the last and deciding match between Juan & Devarsh who both have interestingly lost their earlier matches
5:00pm | In Table Tennis, India has defeated Colombia in the next two matches and now lead the tie 2-1 as Ayaz defeated Juan 3-0 and Harkuwar defeat Nikolas 3-0.
4:45pm | In Fencing Balram faced a tough loss of 5-15 against Diego which ends the Men Epee individual campaign for today.
4:30pm | India lost to Czech Republic 33 : 137, as it was a no contest since start. Nela scored 22 while Eliska scored 20 points while for India Riya Pramod scored 13 points. We next play Argentina tomorrow.
4:15pm | Indian Women 5×5 continues to struggle as in the Q3 we scored 5 points while giving away 32 points
4:10pm | India lost the first match against Colombia and are under tremendous pressure after the 0-3 loss against Japan last night. Devarsh lost to Camilo 0-3
4:05pm | In Fencing Balram has defeated the Taipei fencer 15-12 and made his way to the Round64 where he will be up against Diego from America. In Tennis Anjali Rathi wins against her opponent from Uganda serving two bagels, but she has much tougher opponent next as she plays Li Zongyu WR287 in the Round 2.
4:00pm | India defeats Netherlands 3-1 as Taneesha wins her second match against Shouhan Men to win the tie for India and qualify for the Round of 16 in Women Team Table Tennis. While in Basketball 5×5, Indian women continue to struggle with a score line of 21-71 at the end of first half
3:45pm | In Basketball 3×3, India lost to Germany 6-21 Men’s Group Phase – Group D, we next play Mongolia at 6:55pm. For Germany Carlo scored 9 points while Linus scored 7 points and Germany quickly raced to 21. In the Women 5×5 Basketball India is playing Czech and had a troubled first quarter wherein the score is 4-32 at the end of Q1
3:10pm | India leads against Netherlands as Pritha wins a crucial tie 3-2, she got better of Lierop 7-11, 11-2, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6 to give India the lead and now we are 2-1
3:00pm | In the Tennis Men’s Doubles Round of 32 it was an easy victory for Maan & Kabir as they got better of the Thai opponents 6-1, 6-1. They will next play the winner of the match between Britain & Germany for a place in the Quarterfinals.
2:55pm | Only Balram Joshi in the Men Epee has made it to the knockouts and he faces Wu from Taipei in the Rd128.
2:45pm | Taneesha wins the second match and brings India back to the tie. its 1-1 in Table Tennis against Netherlands. She defeats Ernst 11-6, 8-11, 11-3, 11-4
2:25pm | Birthday boy Shoan Ganguly, who holds Indian national records in 200m and 400m individual medley. clocked a creditable 2:05.17 to finish second in the H2, looks unlikely he will make it to Semis. second Indian swimmer Anurag Singh was 2:19.83 was last in the heat. Shoan was 29th in the list and Anurag was at 38 out of the 41 swimmers who participated.
2:20pm | Next up in swimming is 200m Individual medley and both the Indian swimmers are again in H2 with a total of 6 heats, once again difficult to make it from there to the semis.
2:15pm | In 50m Breaststroke Women both the Indian swimmers were in H2, Naga with a 34.66 was 3rd Rithvika with a 34.78 was fourth, they wont make the Semifinals. Overall Naga was 34th while Rithvika was 35th out of 44 swimmers
2:10pm | In Table Tennis, India has lost the first match and will look to make a comeback through Taneesha now. Here is our podcast with Taneesha just before she left for World University Games.
2:00pm | In the Taekwondo Women Team Poomsae Round of 16 Indian Women Team has defeated Ecuador (8.249 – 7.950 ), as the Men team lost their match (7.265 – 8.966) to South Korea
1:55pm | Important Table Tennis match ongoing between Indian and Netherlands team, First up is Sayali Wani against Shouhan Men. In today tie Taneesha & Sayali play twice, important for India to win the tie to make it to the knockouts.
1:50pm | In the 100m Backstroke the lone Indian entry Nithik clocked 57.43 for a second place finish in his heat, and he wont make the Semifinals. He finished 29th out of 40 swimmers
1:45pm | After the finish of all the heats Nina was 41st while Latiesha was 47th of the 60 swimmers in the race.
1:35pm | Nina topped the heat with a 59.58s while Latiesha was 1:00.54 to make it Indian 1-2 and that will be it, they wont make the semifinals
1:30pm | Next up we have Nina & Latiesha in Women 100m Freestyle and they are in Heat 2 of the total eight heats. Very difficult to make it from there.
1:20pm | Srihari Nataraj has qualified for the Semifinals in a phenomenal fashion and he is the fifth fastest, Aneesh was 33rd amongst 58 swimmers. The Semifinals are in the night 10:30pm, Can he make the Final
1:15pm | Aneesh finished fifth with a 1:52.42 and will not make the semifinals while Srihari has topped the heat with a 1:48.22 which is better than Best Indian time Sajan Prakash 01:49.73 and fastest Indian time set by Srihari 01:48.66. He is currently at third place with just last heat to go so he will make the semis. Two Days Two National Records for India at the World University Games.
1:10pm | Next up we have Men 200m Freestyle Heats and we have two Indian Swimmers in there, you have Srihari Nataraj & Aneesh Gowda, Aneesh is in the 4th heat while Srihari is in the 5th heat. There are a total of 8 heats in this event
12:50pm | The Indian Swimmers Bhavya (20) & Shrungi (19) finished in the bottom in the 400m Medley where in 21 swimmers were there
12:40pm | Both the Indian swimmers are in the slowest heat and Shrungi clocked 5:16.90 to finish third while Bhavya was 5:17.62 to be placed fourth and they will not make the Finals
India’s Big Day at FISU World University Games: From Sunrise Swims to Midnight Showdowns
12:30pm | We start with Fencing & Swimming, as Bhavya & Shrungi will be gunning for the spot in Finals tonight in the 400m Medley while the Men Epee Athletes will look to enter the knockout rounds.
What is Men Epee Men’s Épée is one of the three fencing disciplines in the sport of fencing, featuring the largest and heaviest of the three fencing weapons. The épée is a thrusting weapon, and fencers score a touch by hitting their opponent with the tip of the blade.
