Subedar Vishnu Saravanan of the Indian Army’s Yachting Node continues to make waves in the world of competitive sailing.
At the recently concluded 7th Sailing Grand Prix in Vilamoura, Portugal, Vishnu showcased his skill and resilience, securing an 11th-place finish among a strong fleet of 87 ILCA 7 sailors. This performance further cements his position as one of India’s top sailing talents as he gears up for the ILCA 7 World Championships with podium ambitions.
A Strong Performance Against the Worlds Best
The ILCA 7 event in Portugal featured some of the finest sailors from across the globe. Spain’s Joel Rodriguez Perez emerged victorious, scoring 7 net points, while Vishnu ended with a respectable 40 net points in a highly competitive fleet.
His result reflects consistency and determination as he continues to compete at the highest level.
Nethra Kumanan Impresses in ILCA 6
India’s Nethra Kumanan, another leading name in Indian sailing, also delivered a commendable performance in the ILCA 6 category. She secured 14th place out of 52 sailors, finishing with 52 net points, proving her mettle against an elite lineup.

Vishnu Saravanan’s upward trajectory in the sport is evident from his recent rise in the world rankings. As of February 2025, he is ranked 13th in the world in ILCA 7 his career-best ranking.
