Indian tennis prodigy Manas Dhamne has made a significant breakthrough in his young career, surging from #1015 to #793 in the latest ATP rankings.

At just 17.1 years old, Dhamne is now the second-youngest player in the ATP Top 800, signalling his rapid rise in the professional circuit.
Dhamne, who hones his skills under Riccardo Piatti and former ATP #140 Quinzi, has been making waves on the ITF and Challenger circuits.
His recent performances have showcased his resilience and talent, particularly his 10-match winning streak, which included several victories over much higher-ranked opponents.
A Remarkable Run in Recent Tournaments
The teenagers breakthrough came during a stellar run at the ITF M15 Monastir, where he reached the quarterfinals after winning the previous week. He battled past former Top 20 Junior Emilien Demanet in a grueling three-hour contest, coming from a set down to claim victory 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. However, his run ended against experienced Frenchman Kenny De Schepper (#688, 37 years old), who overpowered him 2-6, 1-6.
Despite the loss, Dhamn’s performance earned him a wildcard entry into the ATP 100 Pune Challenger (Maha Open).
Challenger Main-Draw Debut in Pune
Dhamne is set to make his Challenger Tour main-draw debut at the ATP 100 Pune Open, where he faces a formidable challenge against Billy Harris (#116, Great Britain) in the first round.
As the tournament’s top seed, Harris will provide a tough test, but Dhamne has already proven his ability to battle against higher-ranked opponents. This match, scheduled to take place on Centre Court, marks another crucial step in his promising career.
The Future Looks Bright for Indian Tennis
Dhamne’s rise is reminiscent of past Indian junior talents who transitioned well into the professional circuit. His success echoes Haritha’s 15-match winning streak in the junior circuit, reinforcing the depth of talent in Indian tennis.
With his aggressive baseline game, mental toughness, and high-quality training under top international coaches, Dhamne has the potential to be a future star for India.
As he steps onto the Challenger stage, all eyes will be on Manas Dhamne.
Can he continue his impressive run and pull off an upset against Harris? Regardless of the result, his journey so far proves that he is a name to watch in Indian tennis.
