20km Walk Race National Games Record Broken After 14 Years by Servin sebastien; New Records Set on Day 4 of Athletics

Day four of the 38th National Games turned into a record-breaking spectacle, with multiple athletes delivering historic performances.

In the men’s 20km race walk, a 14-year-old record was erased as six participants went beyond the previous mark, with Servin Sebastian (Services) securing gold with a time of 1:21:23.

The athletics arena also witnessed outstanding feats in hammer throw, 800m races, and heptathlon, making the day a thrilling showcase of talent and determination.

Men’s 20km Race Walk Final:

Servin Sebastian (Services) clinched the gold medal with a record-breaking time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 23 seconds.
Uttarakhand’s Suraj Panwar secured the silver with a time of 1:21:34, while Punjab’s Amanjot Singh took the bronze with 1:21:42. A total of six athletes broke the 14-year-old record in this event.

Women’s 10km Race Walk Final:

Haryana’s Raveena secured the gold medal with a time of 45:52. Uttarakhand’s Shalini finished second with 46:12, while Uttar Pradesh’s Munita Prajapati claimed the bronze with 46:23.

Men’s Hammer Throw Final:

Services’ Taranveer Singh Bains won the gold medal with a throw of 66.64m. Punjab’s Damneet Singh, who set a record of 67.62m at the 2022 National Games, won silver this time with a throw of 64.71m. Rajasthan’s Praveen Kumar secured the bronze with 64.42m.

Men’s 200m Final:

Odisha’s Animesh Kujur won the gold medal with a time of 20.58 seconds. Tamil Nadu’s Ragul Kumar G secured silver with 21.06 seconds, while Nithin B took the bronze with 21.07 seconds.

Women’s 200m Final:

Andhra Pradesh’s Jyoti Yaraji clinched the gold medal with a time of 23.35 seconds. Karnataka’s Unnati Ayyappa secured silver in 23.70 seconds, while Telangana’s Nitya Gandhe won bronze in 23.76 seconds.

Women’s 800m Final:

Delhi’s Chanda won the gold medal with a time of 2:00.82, breaking her own National Games record (2:01.58, 2022). Punjab’s Twinkle Choudhary secured silver with 2:03.46, while Amandeep Kaur took bronze with 2:04.76.

Men’s 800m Final:

Services’ Mohammad Afsal P claimed gold with a time of 1:49.13. Uttarakhand’s Anu Kumar finished second with 1:49.19, while Services’ Prakash Gadade secured the bronze with 1:49.58.

Men’s Triple Jump Final:

Tamil Nadu’s Praveen Chithravel won gold with a jump of 16.50m. His state teammate Mohammad Salahuddin secured silver with 16.01m, while Kerala’s Mohammad Muhasin took bronze with 15.57m.

Women’s Heptathlon Final:

Telangana’s Agasara Nandini secured the gold medal with 5601 points. Haryana’s Pooja won silver with 4999 points, while Tamil Nadu’s Deepika S claimed bronze with 4939 points.

The athletics events at the 38th National Games continue to witness historic performances, with the final day tomorrow expected to bring more record-breaking feats.
