The first day of table tennis at National Games, held at the multipurpose hall, was filled with excitement. Players from various states delivered outstanding performances in both the men’s and women’s team events.

Women’s Team Event

The women’s team competition saw strong performances from West Bengal and Maharashtra. In Group A, Maharashtra secured a commanding lead by winning all three of their matches, while Delhi also displayed solid gameplay.
However, Uttarakhand struggled, facing defeats in all of its encounters.

In the first round of Group A, Tamil Nadu defeated Uttarakhand 3-0, while Maharashtra made a strong start by defeating Delhi 3-0.
In the second round, Maharashtra continued their winning streak by beating Tamil Nadu 3-1, while Delhi secured a 3-1 victory over Uttarakhand. The third round saw Maharashtra maintaining their dominance by defeating Uttarakhand 3-0, while Delhi clinched a narrow 3-2 victory against Tamil Nadu.

In Group B, West Bengal emerged as the top team, winning all three of their matches. Haryana put up a strong fight, offering tough competition. The first round witnessed West Bengal defeating Karnataka 3-0 and Haryana edging past Gujarat with a 3-2 victory.

In the second round, West Bengal outplayed Haryana 3-1, while Karnataka strengthened their position by securing a close 3-2 win over Gujarat. The third round saw West Bengal securing the top spot with a 3-0 victory over Gujarat, while Haryana triumphed over Karnataka in a closely contested 3-2 match.

Men’s Team Event

The men’s team matches showcased remarkable performances from Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Tamil Nadu dominated Group A, winning all their matches, while Maharashtra claimed the top position in Group B with their strong gameplay.

In Group A, the first round featured Tamil Nadu defeating Telangana 3-1, while Assam secured a 3-0 win against Uttar Pradesh. The second round saw Tamil Nadu overpowering Uttar Pradesh 3-1, and Telangana edging past Assam with a 3-1 victory.

In the third round, Tamil Nadu continued their winning streak with a 3-0 win over Assam, while Telangana clinched a narrow 3-2 victory against Uttar Pradesh.

In Group B, Maharashtra began their campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over West Bengal, while Delhi secured a 3-1 victory against Uttarakhand. The second round witnessed West Bengal bouncing back with a 3-1 victory over Delhi, while Maharashtra continued their dominance with a 3-0 win over Uttarakhand.

In the third round, West Bengal outplayed Uttarakhand 3-0, while Maharashtra maintained their stronghold by defeating Delhi 3-0.

With exceptional performances in both men’s and women’s categories, teams from West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu demonstrated excellent form. The upcoming semifinal matches are expected to be even more thrilling, promising intense competition among the top teams.
