The volleyball competition at the 38th National Games concluded today at Shivalik Hall, Rudrapur. After five days of intense matches, the winners in both the men’s and women’s categories were decided.
In the men’s final, Services defeated Kerala 3-1 to claim the gold medal, while in the women’s final, Kerala edged past Tamil Nadu in a thrilling 3-2 contest to secure the championship.
Men’s Category
In the men’s final, Services triumphed over Kerala with a 3-1 victory. Services dominated the first two sets, winning 25-20 and 25-22.
However, Kerala made a strong comeback in the third set, winning 25-19. The fourth set witnessed an intense battle, with Services clinching it 28-26 to seal the title.
In the bronze medal match, Tamil Nadu defeated Uttarakhand 3-0. Tamil Nadu secured all three sets with scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-20, claiming the third-place finish.
Women’s Category
The women’s final saw a fierce contest between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Kerala took the first set 25-19, but Tamil Nadu bounced back, winning the next two sets 25-22, 25-22 to take the lead.
Kerala staged an incredible comeback in the fourth set, securing a dominant 25-14 win and forcing a decisive fifth set.
Kerala then claimed the championship with a 15-7 victory in the final set, sealing the match 3-2.
In the women’s bronze medal match, Rajasthan outplayed Chandigarh with a 3-0 victory.
Rajasthan dominated the match, winning all three sets 25-18, 25-15, and 25-20 to claim the bronze medal.
Thus, in the volleyball competition of the 38th National Games, Services secured the gold medal in the men’s category, while Kerala emerged as champions in the women’s category.
