India’s brightest badminton prospects, has added another feather to her cap by finishing as the runner-up at the prestigious Odisha BWF100 tournament held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack
The competition brought together elite players from around the world. Yet, it was Tanvi’s grit, determination, and exceptional performance that stole the show.
Humble Beginnings
Born and raised in Hoshiarpur, Punjab , Tanvi’s journey in badminton began at the young age when She was introduced to badminton by her mother, Meena Sharma, who also played volleyball at the DC Complex in Hoshiarpur.
Inspired to help both Tanvi and her elder sister Radhika pursue the sport, Meena enrolled in a badminton coaching course herself.
Her breakthrough came during her junior years, dominating local tournaments and clinching titles at both state and national levels.
Her success caught the eye of top coaches, leading her to train at India’s renowned Gopichand Academy in 2016, where she trained as a non-scholarship trainee for five years until 2021, where she sharpened her skills with world-class training.
Since then, Tanvi has steadily risen through the ranks. Known for her sharp tactics, lightning-quick footwork, and composure in high-pressure matches, Tanvi has become a force to be reckoned with on the court.
A Remarkable Run at the Odisha BWF100
At the Odisha BWF100, Tanvi once again showcased her evolution as a player. Entering the tournament as an underdog, she surprised both fans and higher-seeded players with her remarkable skill and resilience. Mixing aggressive smashes with deft drop shots, she sailed through the early rounds, defeating several tough opponents, including Saloni Samirbhai Mehta of Taiwan and qualified for the Finals.

In the championship match, Tanvi faced the experienced CAI Yan Yan tournament’s top seed. Despite giving it her all, the match tilted in favor of her seasoned opponent, with scores of 14-21, 16-21 .
However, Tanvi’s spirited performance, marked by long, intense rallies and flashes of brilliance, won her widespread acclaim.
Reflecting on her journey, Tanvi shared, “This tournament has been an incredible learning experience. I’m thankful for the unwavering support of my coaches, family, and fans. I’ll use these lessons to keep improving and chase my dreams.”

Only thing she has to do is to avoid regular injuries and to be consistent enough and continuously do hard work. That’s it .
