Malvika Becomes the third Indian Women Singles player, after Sindhu and Saina to enter BWF300+ Final outside India
Malvika Bansod, WR34 defeated Jakobsen from Denmark WR38 to enter the final of Hylo Open 2024
In the Semifinal she defeated Julie Jakobsen 🇩🇰 23-21, 21-18 to reach the finals.
Malvika will play Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt, seeded seventh, in the title clash.
In 2024 she becomes the only 3rd Indian make it to the Finals of BWF World Tour
Only Satwiksairaj Rankireddy – Chirag Shetty and P V Sindhu have managed that feet
While Satwik-Chirag were winners at French Open and Thailand Open, they were finalists at Malaysia Open & India Open.
Sindhu was finalist at Malaysia Masters.
Malvika became the First Indian Finalist after May in BWF World Tour Events.
In 2022 Malvika did reach finals of Syed Modi BWF300 event however the field then was extremely weak due to travel restrictions.
Earlier she had reached the Women’s Singles semifinal by beating 🇻🇳’s Thuy Linh, 21-15, 21-17, in the quarter-final. Interestingly just in last tournament at Denmark Open she had lost to her in straight games, so this change is welcoming.
She is yet to drop a game in this tournament yet. She started of with a clean victory over Bulgarian 🇧🇬 Popovoska 21-6,21-17. In the round two she had yet another easy opponent in Andersen, the match ending 21-13,21-16.
The last three Winners at Hylo Open have been from USA, Thailand and China so this time surely there is a new country getting to the list. Indian will want to see Malvika while Danish fans will also be hoping to grab the big BWF300 title
Ayush Shetty on the other hand gave his best but had to endure a loss in straight games against Popov. The deep run until the semifinal should help him enter Top50 in the world rankings.
