India suffers loss against Kazakhstan after two wins in Olympic Pre-Qualifying tournament in Syria

Indian men are in Syria to play the six nation tournament which will decide the lone team which will go to the Olympic qualifiers.

The team who was running high on confidence made a lot of spirited comebacks during the match. In the first quarter India was quickly down 0-9 but then ended up scoring 16 point’s against an additional 10 for Kazakhs.

Kazakhstan who came in to the tournament as the highest ranked team had two losses to show. They were in-fact on a 12 games losing streak.

At the end of quarter one India was trailing by three points. The second quarter was relatively better from Indian point of view. Indian team scored 20 for the opponents 18 and hence the gap of points was mere 1.

At half time the score stood at 36-37.

The start of third quarter was devastating as before Indian team could realise what hit them Kazakhs were up 52-38 a lead of 14 points

The Indian coach then introduced A Muthu Krishnan who ended up scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds and bought India back in the mix.

From being down by 14 points India led at the end of quarter 3 by 54-52.

The final quarter was a closely contested one with the lead changing hands. Both the team took time-out with 11 seconds to go and India was expecting to make a last attempt for a 3 pointer ended up with a foul which led to Kazakhs win.

In other results Saudi Arabia also scored their first win and they play next against India.

Bahrain continued their surge as they defeated hosts rather brutally 91-60.
