Indian Mixed team is in Group A along with Australia, Sri Lanka & Australia
Star – studded Indian team will be up against a relatively easy competition in the mixed team event, as they are scheduled to play against low ranked teams like Pakistan, Sri lanka and Australia. None of these teams have anyone in the Top50 across all the five disciplines.
India who had won Gold in the last editions of these games should easily top the group to make it to the quarterfinals. Back then as well India was clubbed with Pakistan & Srilanka along with Scotland and India had topped the group with clean sweep. Then they went on to defeat Mauritius in the Quarterfinals without conceding a match.
In the SemiFinal India was up against a formidable Singapore team, India defeated them 3-1 to book the Gold Medal clash with Malaysia.
In the Final India lost only one match which was by the young Satwik-Chirag and went on to win the Gold Medal.
Five-time champions Malaysia, who were beaten by India in the final of the last edition in Gold Coast, are in Group 4 with South Africa, Jamaica, and Zambia.
England, winners of the first eight editions of the team event starting from 1966, are in Group 2 with Singapore, Mauritius, and Barbados, while Group 3 features Pan Am powerhouses Canada, alongside Scotland, Maldives, and Uganda.
