Roundglass Hockey Academy secured the Sikh Union Club Nairobi Centenary Hockey Tournament 2026 title with a 4-1 win over Nairobi Sikh Union in the final, completing a strong turnaround campaign in Kenya.

The Mohali-based side recovered from an opening loss to the same opponents and went on to dominate the rest of the tournament, finishing with consistent performances across group and knockout stages.

Roundglass began their campaign with a 1-4 defeat against hosts Nairobi Sikh Union in the group stage. The result exposed early adjustments needed in defensive structure and adaptation to conditions. However, the response in the next matches was clear. The team improved its control in midfield and efficiency in attack, leading to a 9-0 win over London Sikh Union.

They followed that with a 7-1 win against Satellites and an 8-3 result against Niger Flickers. Across these matches, Roundglass maintained a high scoring rate while reducing defensive errors.

By the end of the group stage, they had moved into the knockout rounds with momentum and a clear improvement in performance.

In the semi-final, Roundglass faced Satellites again. The approach remained similar to their group-stage win, with structured build-up and controlled transitions. They secured a 7-2 win to reach the final. The result reflected their ability to maintain consistency against the same opposition and manage knockout pressure.

The final against Nairobi Sikh Union began with an early setback. The hosts scored in the first minute through a penalty corner, putting Roundglass under pressure. The response came quickly. Jarman Singh scored twice in the 7th and 9th minutes, giving Roundglass a 2-1 lead and shifting momentum. After taking the lead, the team focused on controlling possession and limiting chances. Their midfield ensured steady ball movement, while the defence stayed organised.

In the second half, Roundglass extended their lead. Jobanpreet Singh scored in the 34th minute, followed by Gurwinder Singh in the 46th minute. The 4-1 result confirmed the title and completed a turnaround from the group-stage defeat against the same opponent.

Roundglass Hockey Academy’s campaign was built on three main aspects:

  • Consistency in scoring: The team registered high-scoring wins in multiple matches

  • Adaptation: Adjustments after the opening loss improved overall performance

  • Game management: The final showed control after conceding early

Their ability to recover from a setback and maintain performance levels across matches was central to the title win.

The win adds to a strong season for Roundglass Hockey Academy. Several players from the setup have already been part of Indian U-18 and senior national coaching camps. Performing in an international tournament provides exposure to different playing styles and match conditions, which is important for player development. The tournament highlighted Roundglass Hockey Academy’s ability to compete outside India and deliver results against international opposition.

From an early defeat to lifting the trophy, the team showed progression across each stage of the competition. The final performance, in particular, reflected improved structure and execution. Roundglass Hockey Academy’s 4-1 win in the final capped a structured campaign built on recovery and consistency. The title at the Nairobi Centenary Tournament reinforces their position as one of the leading development setups in Indian hockey.

The result also provides a benchmark for future competitions, as the team looks to build on this performance in upcoming international and domestic events.
