In Indian badminton history, women singles is the category that has always dominated and been the face of Indian badminton for such a long time.
The likes of Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu are two of the legends of Indian badminton. But there is always a question of who will be the next Saina or next Sindhu.
Who will continue this legacy in women singles for India?

Malvika Bansod
The current 2nd top-ranked Indian player after Sindhu, Malvika’s current world ranking is 27.
The 23-year-old girl came into the limelight when she won the Syed Modi India International in 2022. Last year she played almost more than 15 tournaments.

In China Open, Malvika upset Paris Olympics bronze medallist Gregoria Tunjung in the first round of the tournament.
After that she went down in the quarterfinal against Akane Yamaguchi.
Anmol Kharb
Anmol is also one of the upcoming talented girls in Indian women’s singles. She was part of the Indian team that created history by winning the women’s title in the Badminton Asia Team Championship last year.
In this, Anmol was playing her first international tournament and in the finals against Thailand when the score was 2-2, and all depended on Anmol, who was against better-ranked Pornpicha.
Anmol defeated Pornpicha in straight games and helped India to win their first medal as gold, which was one of the memorable moments in the history of Indian badminton.
Her current world ranking is 66, which is the result of her brilliant run in 2024.

Tanvi Sharma
Tanvi was also part of the team that won gold at the 2024 Asia Team Championships. She was also a part of the 2024 Uber Cup team.
She is only 16 years old and has a lot of time to improve herself for the senior level. She already showed some great skills at senior level.
She finished as a quarterfinalist in the BWF World Junior Championship. She also won a silver medal at the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championship.
In 2024, Tanvi won her first senior title in the form of the Bonn International Challenge. At the end of the year, she also finished as runner-up in the Odisha Masters.
Unnati Hooda
Unnati, a 17-year-old girl from Haryana, also showed the signs of becoming India’s top women’s singles player. In 2022, Unnati won the title of Odisha Masters S100. Unnati was also part of India’s 2022 Uber Cup team.
Unnati was also the silver medallist at the 2022 Badminton Asia Junior U17 Championship.
In 2024, Unnati struggled a little bit with her form. In 2024, Syed Modi is only a good tournament for her where she finished as a semifinalist.
In 2024, she came into the top 50, but because of some bad tournaments at the end of the year, her current world ranking slipped to 79.
Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj
In 2024, if any girl who looked most promising was Rakshitha Ramraj. A 17-year-old girl from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, starts displaying her talent at the international level.
Her career-best ranking is 49, which is her current world ranking also. Look at some of his tournament successes in 2024.

Anupama Upadhyaya
A 19-year-old girl from Almora, Uttarakhand, first started playing badminton when she was sent to a summer camp by her father, Naveen, a former cricketer. She first started training under D. K. Sen (father of 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lakshya Sen).
In 2023, Upadhyaya won the Indian National Championshipswomen’s singles title at the age of 18, becoming the first girl’ from Almora district to do so. She was elected to join the national team to compete at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
She still needs to do justice with her talent, looking at her stats in BWF tour events, which are not that impressive, but she will definitely be the one to watch for the future.
Tasnim Mir
Former world junior number 1, Tasnim was also one of the rising young talented girls in women’s singles. Her father, Irfan Ali Mir, who worked in the police department and was also a badminton coach, introduced Mir to badminton when she was seven years old.
Mir represented India at the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup held in Denmark. Her current world ranking is 57.
Isharani Baruah
A 21-year-old girl from Assam is also the one to watch out for in the future. Isharani showed brilliant form at the end of 2024 in domestic tournaments.
Her current world ranking is 60.
