Up Against Former World Rank 17 Mannarino from France, Nagal showed extremely good resilience to win in straight sets
India no1 Sumit Nagal, who yesterday lost the first set to the local wildcard entrant but then didnt look back after that winning next two in 6-3,6-1 in some fashion. He had a bigger challenge up today.
Playing against a WR66 player, left hander Mannarino who had won in straight sets yesterday Nagal started off really well breaking the French serve.
Sumit Nagal who was playing well and held his serve but lost on his second to make the score 2-2 to lose the advantage.
With the score at 5-5, Nagal once again broke Mannarino serve winning four straight points.
However, the French came straight back and took to tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker Mannarino rose to 5-1 with serve on his side and looked like the set will be his.
Sumit Nagal, then made a miraculous comeback to win six straight points to seal the first set.
In the second set, Nagal once again broke Mannarino first serve and quickly made it 3-0. After a couple of round of serve hold, Nagal lost his serve and quickly returned the favour.
While he was serving for the match again it became 15-40, but the India no1 held his nerve to close the match 7-6,6-3.
