The Dynamic Duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have ticked another milestone.
They’ve just recently achieved the feat of being ranked as WORLD RANK 1 for consecutive 10 weeks.
Yes! You heard it right. With this remarkable achievement, they’re now the most successful Indian Shuttlers as far as the BWF World Rankings are concerned.
Earlier, Saina Nehwal had this record of most no. of consecutive weeks as World No 1 for India. She was ranked world no1 for Nine consecutive weeks.
Satwik/Chirag on 26/03/24 broke that record to add another feather in their cap. They’re ranked as World No 1 for 10 consecutive weeks from 10/10/23 to 26/03/24.
Saina was the WR 1 for 9 consecutive weeks from 16/04/15 till 15/10/15. Also, Satwik/Chirag are tied with Saina when it comes to total no of weeks as WR 1.
They’re WR 1 for 13 weeks in total.
Although this list is significantly small, the 3rd shuttler featuring in this list is Kidambi Srikanth. He was the World No 1 for just a single week.
Many of you would be surprised to know that Legendary PV Simdhu does not feature in this list. She was a strong contender to make it to WR 1 and came really close at times but unfortunately couldn’t make it happen.
Hopefully, better late than never is the phrase that’ll suit her.
I’m very sure this achievement won’t get into heads of Satwik/Chirag.
Thanks to Gopi Sir, he always reminds all his students that rankings will keep on changing. It shouldn’t affect you mentally.
The main goal remains the Paris Olympics!
